2. My dad always played the radio at milking time. He said the girls enjoyed it.

3. My dad, too.

And - no offense to anyone - the cows also enjoyed the Rosary during milking. One local station had those prayers on their playlist right around feeding and milking time. I think it was the rhythmic ebb and flow of the voices - in truth it soothes humans, too.

This was not a religious station - just the normal local radio. Other programs through out the day included polka music, grain market prices and trends, the daily obits, want ads and "for sale" items, a wide variety of music across the genres, radio soaps as well as other radio dramas and comedy, recipes for the housewife to try, a few programs aimed at kids, and of course weather reports.

5. Our cows listened to big band music. That was the era when my dad grew up and was his favorite.

We had little Jersey cows and they were just like pets. They would come to you when you walked out into the pasture and loved having their ears and necks scratched. When we mowed the yard, I would rake up the grass clippings and dump them over the fence for a special treat (apparently lawn grass tastes better than pasture grass). When they heard the mower start, they would line up and wait for it.

7. Oh, I Loooooove jerseys. If I won the lottery, I'd buy lots of pasture land and definitely

have some jerseys, some pygmy goats, a horse or two and of course my dogs. Sanctuary only, of course.

I do love jerseys though.

9. Our jerseys looked like this one. Their names were Zsa Zsa and Ava because of their long eyelashes.

20. Jerseys are cute cows. It's those eyes, and they're smaller and cuddlier than the larger cows.

I worked on a dairy farm one summer and they had Holsteins, Gurnseys and Jerseys,

The black and white Holsteins were the biggest, then the gurnseys.

The farm had a gurnsey bull who had his own pen with heavy steel posts—the animal was huge and powerul, standing at least head and shoulders above even the bigger Holstein cows.

When he got mad he head butt on of the steel posts and you could hear it all across the farm.

12. Its a concertina. Friend who plays that and accordian, says concertina is more difficult to play.

14. I was going to change it to "hand accordian" as I didn't remember the term concertina

But figured it was in the same "family"... LOL

23. Thank you

And the tune is a common Irish polka (name escapes me, perhaps Denis Leary's?) played quite a bit slower than normal. Pretty neat as a cow caller though.

Our cat prefers jazz.
