He died in March 2001. The first Super Bowl he didn't see was the first one the Patriots won (beginning what, under Massachusetts law, must always be referred to as "the Brady-Belichick era" .

I'm a Patriots fan, but when I found out that the Eagles hadn't won a Super Bowl, it softened the blow for me. I'm so sorry your mom didn't get to see it. I watched the Eagles fans in the streets after the game and it made me smile.
I'm sure you really miss your mom. Time doesn't make the pain go away but it softens the edges.
