I like the Eagles. They're one of my favorite teams. Therefore, I'm going to my in-laws house, where all sports are frowned upon, to watch a movie. That way, I won't actually have to see the Patriots overcome a halftime deficit to win the game 27-26 in the final half-minute.. My wife is staying home to watch the game, so she'll be on top our next dozen times at least.

(11,845 posts)I understand your trepidation. I will be watching with one eye closed. I just hope they make it a good game.
That being said...GO EAGLES.

(4,483 posts)The sad dilemma of the Iggles fan. Sigh. My husband will watch the game, so I'll perforce be aware, but I don't want to be. I just want to remember them as they were, last game. It's awful, isn't it?

(9,726 posts)Super Bowl. No matter what happens this year, it can't possibly be as awful as Super Bowl LI. So, I'll be watching Wonder Woman on Amazon Prime and spare no thoughts to the Super Bowl. I think my niece and her husband will be coming to watch it, but the house is big enough that their viewing won't interfere with mine, and vice-versa.

(175 posts)Your team supposedly represents New York City, yet it plays in another state! How can they rep a city and state they're not even in?
I've never lived in or around NYC, so I obviously don't know about the football zeitgeist. New Yorkers might not give a hoot. If so, can still respect the mindset, even though I still agree with Ed Koch.

(26,257 posts)I was stationed there for my last duty station. It was during their Tricentennial. I lived right on Broad Street, half way between the base and Center City.
Oh, and the Atlantic City Mob Wars were also taking place. Exciting times in Philadelphia, that's for sure.

(38,546 posts)I've been a Red Sox fan all my life. (I even saw Pudge hit his homer.)
It's all entertainment (unless you're betting).
I'm going to watch football and amazing commercials. I'm going to eat good food (hopefully). I'm going to be w/ friends.
No matter who wins, it won't change my life.

(26,257 posts)So, Andy Griffith, a fire in the fireplace and a Reykjavík Pony (my version of a Moscow Mule - made with Reyka Icelandic vodka) are my way of spending a lovely but VERY snowy Sunday afternoon.
