In junior high I took so much shit for liking him.

"You know he's gay, right? Is that why you like him, because you're gay?"

"His music sucks. He's so gay."

"Changes? That song is so gay."

etc. etc. etc., more or less any time the subject came up.

Years later, of course, the pendulum had swung, and people were finally recognizing him as the icon that he truly was, and I get to laugh (silently) at my FB friends from junior high swearing up and down that they always loved him.
