ever spilled hot liquid on your arm and got a 2nd degree burn ?

My first time tonight. Very red and even purplish in spots. Some skin peeled off when I was drying my arm off.

I don't have a really big bandage but I put antibiotic salve all over it. Ouch.

I think it's second degree from this source: https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/guide/pain-caused-by-burns

Seems it would be important to have a bandage to keep you from scraping it while you sleep. Might be worth a trip to a pharmacy if you can 😉

You might also want to run your burned skin under some cold water. The cold water will numb the pain and the sterile gauze will protect it by keeping the antibiotic ointment from "running off".

She suffers burns frequently, halfway between wrist aand elbow, from touching top of a hot pan. I keep telling her to buy longer insulated gloves.

In your situation, keep water off your burns. Tap water can cause serious infections of burned skin area. Antibiotic ointment and a loose bandage is what I would do.

It is not even practical to cook meals everyday with just 2 people in the house.

Did you have a blister that you popped?
If it only got red and hurt like a son of a gun then that is only first degree.

If you did have a blister that you popped then it needs to be covered.
Speak to the pharmacist as to the best ointment to use on it.

It needs to be covered with an ointment.
Suggest you speak with the pharmacist to see what is available.
You have lost the top layer of skin. It can get infected.

I was told it was second degree burns and it was incredibly painful. I ended up on crutches and it took weeks to heal. I had to change the dressings which was not easy. If you haven't seen a doctor. I'd advise it...
