Browsers
What free browsers are you using? I'm having problems with both Firefox and Chrome. Of course, my system is ancient, but I can't replace it yet.

1. I like Opera, and you can turn on ad blocking within it.

3. Microsoft Edge and Windows 10 are doing nicely now.
More free features than you can shake a stick at, including Ad Block!

6. if you are on Windows XP, there's only so many browsers which are compatible

Firefox version 52 will be the last complete update for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Security updates will be released, but no new features.
In March 2017, if you are using Firefox with Windows XP or Windows Vista, you will automatically be updated to the Extended Support Release version of Firefox. You will continue to receive important Firefox security updates but no other features or updates. You do not need to do anything else Download the ESR from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ Ignore the part about personal, this page is appropriate. Scroll down, find English (your country), either 32 bit (probably your version) or 64 bit, and click the download link. |

9. Well, crap
I can't get Opera to run, although it downloaded.
I have this old XP desktop that I can't afford to replace yet. Can't get updates for anything, like Chrome or Foxfire. Its really screwing me up. Any other ideas? I don't want to just replace software when I need the whole shebang. ![]() |

11. Yes, I did
Thanks, Steve.
Most of the current problem is with LinkedIn, which I use heavily for my business. It is suddenly not letting me send messages, even to my own contacts. Their best suggestion is to use a different browser. However, my new laptop has the latest version of Chrome. When I got on LinkedIn with it today, it still wouldn't let me send anything. I think its their problem. Their sorry excuse for tech support is fairly worthless. And I'm paying $60 a month for subscription. |
