Allies of former President Trump have set up a legal fund to pay for the legal fees of his former aides that are facing subpoenas from the January 6th Select Committee. Not only is this a way to further obstruct the committee's work by tying their hands with legal battles, but it also helps to buy the loyalty of the individuals that the committee wants to hear from. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains who is behind this new fund and what they are hoping to accomplish.

(204,728 posts)He never wanted or intended to do the job - which he did not - but he'd run out of options, everything this "businessman" tried failed, casinos, Trump vodka and steaks, and the infamous Trump University. He managed to go through the millions inherited from his father (which he was forced to split with his siblings) and he was desperate for money, so he got the idea to solicit "campaign funds." And by a quirk of election law, he got stuck with the job, though he got considerably fewer votes. But he decided he liked the attention, so he continued to have "campaign rallies" where he could spout off on anything to a captive (and carefully chosen) audience. And because that was allowed to work for him, that's what he's continuing to do. Whether he actually "runs" again is anybody's guess, but the money is still rolling in with little effort on his part.
