2. Remember,... never forget their mission was overthrow of our democracy.

They must be made to suffer consequences and repercussions for what they did.

This is not a trDUMP third world Banana Republic where a Coup de'tat or a military junta is common place or welcomed with open arms.

5. I can remember when our grade school teacher

talked to us at second grade level about the 1956 presidential election results. She emphasized that in our country, the loser was a good sport who accepted the results because that's what a peaceful democracy is all about. That's what elections are for, to find out who the people want to have as their leader and then everyone agrees, even if it's not the person they voted for.

Again, in 1960, we got a similar talk about accepting the winner in a democracy because everyone has to work together for the sake of the country. Our 6th grade teacher in 1960 said that this peaceful transition of power, from the old president to the new one, even when they were from different political parties, was the mark of a democracy. She said we should be grateful that it is always this way in the US because in some countries, it isn't and the losers get violent. We could be proud of the US record on this.

And so we were. Until January 6, 2021.

7. It's so odd that the context of what I was seeing on the TV was missing.

I was completely transfixed by the 'event'...but not traumatized, or even surprised, really. Nothing those troglodytes could do would ever surprise me...with the exception of acting like rational human beings and citizens, of course.

The enormity of the context into which this all fit had to wait until later for all the pieces to fall in.
