O'Rourke: Gov. Abbott's Mask Mandate Reversal 'Sure Looks Politically Convenient' - The Last WordFormer Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke says Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to lift the state’s mask mandate and open businesses to full capacity is like going “to war on your own people.” O’Rourke tells Lawrence O’Donnell it will cause the death of people who would otherwise be alive, and to understand Gov. Abbott’s motive “we need to follow the money, follow the facts.” Aired on 03/03/2021.

1. Beto is the man!
I think that he sees an opening developing for governor in 2022. Meanwhile, Abbott thinks that he can be one of the GOP contenders for president in 2024. This could be very interesting if Abbott focuses on the wrong goal.

2. Does Abbott really think he'll gain national support after throwing Texans to the wolves??
Between the horror of the power failure - which still isn't resolved - and now leaving them open to another wave of pandemic hospitalizations and deaths, who in their right mind would think he's capable of leading the country?? We're still a long way from recovering from Trump, and the nation resoundingly rejected his equally deplorable irresponsibility!
![]() I was thinking that Beto had an even better chance to take on Cruz now, but it does look like his pathway to the governor's seat is rapidly opening up! ![]() ![]() |

3. They need to start a recall petition
Petition to Recall Govenor Greg Abbott Before He Kills Us All
Win or lose that petition, it becomes a show of hands & that is the strength of numbers we carry forward, to begin our campaign to run a Democrat (BETO) against Abbott in 2022. Enough is enough |

4. That's the thing! How much are Texans expected to take under this irresponsible fool??
This was the top news story of the day since nobody could believe he actually did this!

6. I think Beto's right: loosening sure does look convenient
I admit that I expected Abbott to jump the gun and relax restrictions later this year—but I expected him to show just enough sense to wait until at least forty to forty five percent of the public in the Lone Star State had been vaccinated, NOT when only four to five percent had gotten vaccinated.
IMO, his behavior is criminally reckless. WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE IMITATE THE ACTIONS OF THAT FOOL IN FLORIDA???!!! Abbott’s actions are going to cost thousands of Texans their lives, others their health, and ruins the finances of tens of thousands more. I hope we find out what (expletives deleted) put him him up to that. At the very least they deserve doxxing and public shaming. In a truly just world, they’d deserve a lot worse. |
