There's a line that I think the press won't cross. It had nothing to do with democracy per se, but everything to do with the 1st Amendment freedom of the press. Trump may have set off a land mine by trying to bury what amounts to the nullification of FOTP in the recent Defense Bill by attempting to remove the ability of the government to sue social media (Section 230). The problem is that in this day and age, this applies to EVERY media organization, not just Facebook and Twitter. It would essentially have made it possible for the legal muzzling of any reporting that wasn't favorable to the government. I think there was a very palpable shift in coverage, and even Fox, which had been cheering him along, suddenly became MUCH less enamored of him, at least on the news side.

(8,053 posts)Of course he is not going to stay president but he sure will scam his followers by many more millions before he finally leaves. I think he knows he has lost but he has this cash cow he can milk. Between donations to his pac and selling pardons he is trying to pad his bank account.
