1. Above all, because they represent Big Business - which (mostly) wants Mussolini-style governance

Democracy is anathema to CEOs and Board bigwigs (with many exceptions) - and indeed, it's nothing like the way they run their firms.

They see the GOPee - and Trump in particular - as their best chance of overturning it, or at least conditioning it to the point it can't function.

In 2024, they'll just find some other demagogue. And he (or she) will probably be harder to spot as an autocrat than Cheeto was.

2. Yes. I agree.

Corporations, above all, want stability. Stability to them means that power and resources will remain in their hands. In other words, they refuse to allow for fair wages and fair taxation of the wealthy.

3. +1

And many see radicalizing white voters as the best way to make sure even modest reforms and regulations are all but impossible to enact.

Even bills calling for tiny improvements are hissed and spat at as "Soshilism!" That's the mentality CEOs mostly want - again, with notable exceptions.

5. Let's say predictability. They love cyclical disasters as long as they are setting the stage.

Plenty of them cashed in during the crash in 2008, and every disaster has it's winners. Naomi Klein got a whole book out of it (disaster capitalism).
