2. He really is!

He is incredibly informative, but he's also entertaining since he informs with humor. I was so glad to see that he was back tonight, in the past he has taken a longer vacation, but these are unusual times. BTW, welcome to DU!

10. We're so glad to have you with us!

DU is more than a political message board, it's a real community. And I don't know how I would hsve survived the 2004 election without DU, let alone the horror - and the aftermath - of 2016!

3. Thanks for posting, Rhiannon!

I haven't seen a John Oliver video in a while. It was good to hear him! I always forget how much I love his perfect blend of humor and well-informed journalism.

5. Well, he was last on 3 weeks ago, he had a summer hiatus.

I was surprised he was back so soon, but these are unusual times - so he must have had something to say, either that or he was prevented from taking his preferred vacation. And I'm grateful to see him back, too, he is exactly what we need right now!

4. I am surprised he didn't mention the "Jews did it" CTs.

Yes, the Black Death was blamed on us, so is this. International Scapegoating of Israel and Jews for Spreading COVID-19 Hell, I have seen that shit here!

6. Yikes! That is one I have not seen, though Trump has tried to blame everybody and everything

But he's tried hardest to blame this completely on the Chinese, even to the point of changing the name that was given to the virus, though to his likely disappointment his choice of names did not stick.

7. Oh yes...

Presented with the statement “Jews have created the virus to collapse the economy for financial gain,” 5.3% of the interviewees “agreed a little,” 6.8% “agreed moderately,” 4.6% “agreed a lot,” and 2.4% “agreed completely,” while some 80.8% did not agree with it at all.

About the same amount, blamed Muslims for different reasons....

Similar figures were recorded for conspiracy theories involving other groups: while 80.1% of respondents did not agree with the statement “Muslims are spreading the virus as an attack on Western values,” 19.9% did to some extent, including 2.4% who agreed completely.

One in five English people believe COVID is a Jewish conspiracy - survey

11. That is pretty insane, and isn't Israel struggling with this pandemic as much as any country?

But then I have the advantage of having seen The Story of the Jews on PBS which woke me up to how far back this scapegoating went. I was a good history student, learned all about the world wars, but learned from that well-done documentary that it actually went back to ancient times. With what's going on these days, I think they should show it again. Recently, I'd been thinking that they should also rerun the iconic Eyes on the Prize. I found that to be a huge eye-opener for me even though so much of that history was from my lifetime!

8. That's a delight!

Alas, the conspiracy theory believers will never watch this.
