The material world is knowable. Human morality is knowable. Sharing the load of risk has been known since migrations out of Africa.

They "know" in their only way of knowing, which is that they've always been dry, and for all the misty air particles around them they FEEL dry. They're like grasshoppers who've heard the stories that there will always be umbrella holders nearby who they can depend upon as ethical servants, foils for their fake strength, rather than equals whom they should care for.

Care is an ethic. For grasshoppers, care is for suckers.
