Ken Burns on Confederate Statues

Statues glorifying the traitorous Confederacy "should be assigned to oblivion".

1. The interrupting drove me nuts.

Good Q&A about Burn's civil war documentary at the end.

The satellite delay only makes it worse. It's nearly impossible to interject... or get clarification... or add context. What we see happening in "real time" isn't what they experience (conversationally). And it's even worse when a host needs to interrupt to bring a discussion back on track when the guest wanders off topic, or when they're about to go over the amount of time allotted for that segment.

I get so annoyed sometimes with the cellphone delay our our VOIP "landline" delay. It's definitely not the same as talking to someone in person, or even in the "old day" when phones had copper-wire connections that were almost instantaneous.

I know... he's so calm, and thoughtful, and wise. His choice of words is deliberate and precise. I enjoy hearing him too.

2. Ken Burns is a national treasure. Can't wait for his doc on this period.
