Stephen Colbert - Monologue and Opening - 10/25/19

Dem Candidates Struggle To Impress Donors And Stay In The News

While high-powered Democratic donors fret over their lack of enthusiasm for the current frontrunners, some of the lesser known candidates for president are going to great lengths to keep their names in the news.

Do We Really Need Another White House Tell-All Book?

"Warning," a new book from the same anonymous author who penned an op-ed in the New York Times warning of misconduct in the White House, is just one of several tell-all books about the Trump administration.

The Avengers Respond To Marvel Movie Critics

You're right, Hulk. The "Godfather" films do glorify violence.

That's exactly why I started posting his monologues back in 2017, his smart humor made me feel better after a day of Trump news and so I decided to pay it forward...

Even though this monologue was done on Thursday, it's uncanny how timely it is.

Having said that, and I don't watch the Jimmy's, is it similar for their shows?

And those started out being the most political - but Jimmy Kimmel has since gotten on board and my buddy TexasTowelie has started posting his political monologues. Jimmy Fallon is the least political of the bunch, but things have gotten so bad that even he's telling Trump jokes - and he has had candidates on as well. But most of the candidates are on with Colbert, Seth Meyers, The Daily Show and now Jimmy Kimmel.

are Monday-Thursday, if I'm not mistaken, right? That was the basis of the original post. It's almost like a shot in the dark or best guess of what may happen, or conversely, a way to do segments that were planned for the days where breaking events caused a total rewrite to the shows. Especially true in Colbert and Noah's case.

Both of the aforementioned have discussed this before with Jake Tapper and others. Ah the No Drama Obama days that are so longed for.

My wife & I LOVE Colbert! Always have! ...YES!...YES!...YES! Jon Stewart was the original of course but now we have several comedians we must watch for therapeutic stress relief!!

It is funny how we watch the different shows...
..."The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert" we watch his monologue, "Meanwhile" & any interviews we might like via YouTube.
..."Late Night w/Seth Myers" MUST SEE his "Closer Look" & other clips posted to YouTube as well.

...However, we have our DVR set to record "The Daily Show w/Trevor Noah" "Full Frontal w/Sam B" "Jim Jefferies Show" & of course "Last Week Tonight w/ John Oliver".

...They're all so good in their own ways & they do help w/stress! It really does feel wonderful to LOL! ...Trump & the enormous CULT that blindly follows & defends him as their DEAR LEADER is so incredibly insane it feels as if we're in a nightmare episode of the Twilight Zone that seems to have no ending!

These days, after a day of Trump news, I look forward to the relief of the political late night comedians. Trevor Noah is amazingly good with American politics and very funny besides, then I watch Colbert's monologue - I look forward to his political guests and I post them as well as his monologues. And I agree about Seth Meyers' "A Closer Look." His monologues address the news of the day, but "A Closer Look" is an editorial. It used to be an occasional segment, but in these dark days of Trump, it's now on almost daily. Those have become "must-see-TV" for me and I started out posting Colbert's monologue in 2017 for those who don't stay up as late as I do or don't have TV. I figured we really needed the humor here!

BTW, Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to be on with Colbert on Thursday. You can tell he's happiest with the political guests. She was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but it turns out she had a funeral to attend - which I'm sure will come up in the discussion.

And I also look forward to and post John Oliver - not everyone gets HBO. And he's on late night as well, and I'm up, so I pay that one forward, as well. He once said that he'd rather not discuss Trump - and who can blame him? - but these days it's awfully hard to avoid.

I def want to see Nancy! I personally would go crazy if I didn't have access to comedians putting the world in perspective!

I watched a clipped of Colbert acting all giddy after telling his audience she would be on his show after the big vote!

Thanks again for posting!
