1. I made this "transcript" of most of the 2018 remarks from a couple of listens, so it's not

guaranteed precisely exactly accurate, and not entirely in the order presented, but anyway, just to get a flavor of them:

2. the 2018 version was probably before the July 2018 Helsinki

summit where he and Putin had a 1 or 2 hour private meeting with no on else in the room except the translator. No record has every been released as to what they discussed. Putin probably told him he wanted a foot hold in the middle east and Trump had to remove all his troops out of Syria. Putin probably also wanted the location of the 50 nuke tactical weapons that the US had stored in Turkey. I'll call you when it is time to do it.

That would also explain Trumps overnight decision to remove the troops.

3. That explanation makes sense, more's the pity

It's either that or it was just a whim that went through his baffled brain. I don't know which is worse - they both bode badly.
