Startled onlookers were met with over 40 women who swept into Centenary Square and burst into a ‘flash mob dance’ to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence.

The dancers suddenly appeared from all four corners of the park dressed in orange, the colour of the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Women from across the world have been encouraged to wear orange to express their support for the campaign which calls to the end of what it describes as a ‘global pandemic’.

The UN estimates 1 in 3 women have experienced physical or sexual violence, mostly by an intimate partner.

The troupe performed a five minute piece to American writer producer, Tena Clark’s Break The Chain.
