Live Virtual Landing Party for the Curiosity Lander starting now

Don't forget to rec. Let's get this on the front page for everyone!

To celebrate the landing of NASA's Curiosity Rover - the Mars Science Laboratory - we'll be running a special live hangout.

In conjunction with +CosmoQuest. We'll have all your favorite space/astronomy journalists on hand to discuss the mission in depth, and celebrate the landing live, when it happens. Join Fraser Cain, +Pamela Gay, +Philip Plait and +Miles O'Brien for this special event.

Over the course of this 4-hour Google+ Hangout on Air, we'll interview members of the Curiosity team live in the hangout, as well as other special guests from the +The Planetary Society and the +SETI Institute.

+Scott Lewis and +Amy Shira Teitel will be on location at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to interview members of the engineering team, and show you what it's like to be at NASA during this amazing moment.

Tell me, if you can, what the percentage of the budget is spent on NASA?

And this country is not "still spending like drunken sailors".

You haven't been paying attention.

Most people on this website actually read. Marching orders from some buffoons on television/radio not needed....

I mean there are several arguments on both sides but right now is not the time. I opened the thread to celebrate a scientific and engineering achievement not to have a political "discussion" about NASA funding. I view any post complaining about NASA funding right now in this age of no American launch vehicle for astronauts to orbit to be nothing but trolling behavior.

Good Luck Curiosity!
