(5,106 posts)use your Critical Thinking skills! You should be able to differentiate any propaganda from some thoughtful and interesting information. RT is very useful in rounding out your information on the world today. How can you label Thom Hartmann a "trumpee?" Completely the opposite.

(5,106 posts)We need more outlets like RT. It's true that our critical thinking skills are being sadly eroded, because many of our citizens learn that RT stands for "Russia Today," and immediately tune out and become hostile. It makes me, as someone who has taught critical thinking , a little crazy. Putin is a dangerous man, but even he can't take Russia back to the days when any information coming from the U.S. was treated as scurrilous propaganda. Too many information sources are out there. Dismissing any news outlet from other parts of the world as "bad" puts us into the same category as the old U.S.S.R. I can't believe that any RT critics have ever followed RT. Challenge: follow RT for a week and list all the propaganda AND all the undeniable worthwhile information. If you can't distinguish the difference, your education is sadly lacking.

(5,106 posts)But HAVE you watched RT for a week (or even a day)? I would welcome the resulting list of "commie" propaganda you'd provide. Your response just reiterates your original opinion and shows no indication of any critical thinking.

(5,106 posts)You're being a dolt. Taking an opinion as to your lack of critical thinking as a personal attack, rather than as a hopeful wake-up call, pretty much proves the point as you did not answer my question.

(2,654 posts)Absolutely, privatization would be a risk to air travel safety. Wolff provides no new information on that point.
The remainder of the video contains Wolff expressing his anti-privatization views regarding other services, and I agree with him to a point. However, I disagree with his suggestion that banks should not be private/commercial enterprises.
I do not care for RT, and I do not think that it should be linked here at DU.

(5,106 posts)I'm GLAD to see Thom on RT. It shows that he is the thoughtful and critical thinker that I've always thought him to be. God, I'm tired of NEVER getting a response from the RT haters as to propaganda examples and offensive anti-American rants they always claim to hear. No one ever admits to actually listening for a week or so. All I ever hear is repetition of the same old unsubstantiated complaints. Get a clue: these knee-jerk reactions to RT are the worst of the "American free speech" deniers who think they're patriotic. Can I hear from just one person who has actually listened to RT and can list some negative examples. Thom doesn't count, because obviously you can't cull anti- American propaganda from his broadcasts.
