As President Trump comes up on four months in office, we're hearing more from Americans about his job performance. "Face the Nation" moderator John Dickerson held a focus group in Reading, Pa. -- a city in a county Mr. Trump won. The bipartisan group of participants spoke candidly about the president. Here's a bit of what didn't air on Sunday.

I'm definitely on the left-leaning side of the spectrum, I always check things out for myself. I never blindly believe anything or anyone without fact-checking to make sure of things. In other words, those folks who watch Fox or who listen to Rush Limpballs, Alex Jones etc. are intellectually lazy, and don't care to think for themselves.
I'm SO thankful to my long deceased parents who taught me from a very young age to think for myself. They even taught me to challenge THEM if I disagreed with something they said to me, because they said that even they were capable of making mistakes--I can still hear my late Dad telling me "There are erasers on the ends of pencils for a REASON."
I'll never live my life not thinking for myself.

(6,916 posts)People like you and me are what psychologists would call "rational" or "need for information" people. We are persuaded by facts and argument.
Some people rely more on emotions. "Need for Emotion" people or voters.
And some people are just busy with their lives and don't follow politics much - they rely on snippets of Fox or conserva-hate radio they hear, or what their friends and family say.
I don't think we should judge the differences between people too much.
The people I can REALLY hold responsible, however, are people like Ailes and Murdoch and Limbaugh and Bannon and Mercer. Who lie to Americans for fun and profit. Those guys are the real bad guys in this story.

VA today announced a number of changes to make participation in the Veterans Choice Program easier and more convenient for Veterans who need to use it. The move, which streamlines eligibility requirements, follows feedback from Veterans along with organizations working on their behalf.
As we implement the Veterans Choice Program, we are learning from our stakeholders what works and what needs to be refined, said VA Secretary Bob McDonald. It is our goal to do all that we can to remove barriers that separate Veterans from the care they deserve. To date, more than 400,000 medical appointments have been scheduled since the Veterans Choice Program went into effect on November 5, 2014.
