(19,458 posts)Beyond the things I read about 9/11, the thing that always bothered me was how perfectly 9/11 was marketed by Bush and pals. Why didn't it happen on 423 or something totally not in the American vocabulary and so easily used politically by them. I just was never sure that AQ would actually choose that date for its significance, it always felt like a product branding that was FAR too easily and quickly used by the right.
Is that weird to say?

(193 posts)Nope, he left the enemy alone, for 7 more years, and then let the economy crash and let the bi-racial guy clean up after him.
Why did this Cheney guy deserve a second heart? His first heart was so dysfunctional, why not let nature just take the natural course?

(24,411 posts)Wasn't it the Bush Administration who ignored the August PDB, which said very clearly that Bin Laden
was determined to strike inside the US using jet airliners?
Yeah. I thought so.
Why is this piece of shit even speaking about Obama's foreign policy or security credentials---when the only
terrorist attack to ever happen on US soil--happened on Cheney's watch?
He is the LAST person who should be pontificating about who is best for national security!!!
These psychos make me so angry! They have no shame!!
Why don't Democrats ever talk about the Republican bungling of that PDB? Anyone???

(23,203 posts)...the man who pulled the trigger on bin Laden didn't have the cojones to be a leader in a crisis? (did Bush/Cheney ever accomplish that? NOT!)
STFU, you dickless DICK!!!
90-percent
(6,829 posts)I think he's saying that if a 9-11 happened on Obama's watch, he wouldn't have the gall to exploit the tragedy to serve rich military-industrial-congressional-cronies and exploit it to construct a totalitarian police state. Dick doesn't like that Obama is not as servile to war profiteers as he was. Perhaps because Cheney himself is the lord-god-king-buufu of the war profiteers and Obama certainly isn't.
Dick feels Obama would not be nearly as traitorous in exploiting such a tragedy. Hell, he thinks Obama sucks possibly because he knows Obama is not evil enough to let the thing happen in the first place!

(37,648 posts)This is scraping the barrel. Trying to come up with something besides the economy, since the economy slogans don't seem to be doing the trick for them.
But the fight against terrorism? That old slogan? Besides being not as big a deal these days, now that Obama has pretty much wiped them out, incl. OBL, it's not the Democrats' weak point THIS election.

(17,656 posts)Put Cheney in a wheelchair with a blanket over his lap and he becomes Mr. Potter from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life".
"Ugh, you and your pathetic, tiny savings and loan. Why, you don't have a chance to survive in this turbulent financial environment today. If you stay open until 5 o'clock this evening, you'll be bankrupted. I've seen runs on banks before, they can turn pretty ugly real quick. I used to start them myself when I first started out as a banker."
"Now see here, Potter, you're not going to buy out our savings and loan quite that easy. You're not going to board up our homes, start private charter schools in our neighborhoods, export our jobs out of the country, or steal our dreams. I'm not only going to stay open, I'm going to start offering service on Saturdays. And, and I'm going to expand into other areas of the banking business, too. And, and, I'll start offering checking accounts to my customers also. You smell like that weird juice that comes in the bottom of a package of wieners, old man. Go take a bath!"

(7,402 posts)He faced two during his term and he failed miserably on both.
The first problem was the PDB of August 6, 2001 that proclaimed "bin Laden determined to strike inside US". After ignoring that dire warning he pulled the troops out of Tora Bora and allowed bin Laden to escape. In fact, bin Laden was still on the loose when he left office. Show me the leadership.
Second was the financial crisis and housing bubble. His reaction was to turn his head the other way when the warning lights were flashing brightly. The month he left office 818,000 Americans were added to the unemployed ranks. Cheney was clueless and in way over his head, leaving it to Obama to fix the terrible mess he left behind everywhere one looks. A fine one he is to weigh in on the issue of leadership during a crisis.
