I hope any calls for Bernie to 'get out' before the Convention are thoughtfully silenced by a Hillary Clinton fundraiser (and supporter) who says directly and clearly Bernie should stay in for the ENTIRE ELECTION. The election ends at the Convention, and it is notable that clear-headed Democrats, including supporters of Hillary like Clooney, want the process to play out.
(Two clips in the sequence. It is in the 2nd one he says this.)
He also confirms "Yes, it is an obscene amount of money" regarding the $353,000.00-per-couple fundraisers being held, including (ironically) his own. He also notes "...the Sanders' Campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right, it is ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics -- I agree."
Where he probably doesn't get it is that he offers to hold the same kind of fundraisers for Bernie should he win the nomination over Hillary. Bernie would never ask for a big-checks-for-access fundraisers. Bernie walks the talk.
_____
* it isn't included in this clip but during the full interview, he confirms that some of the money raised was for Hillary despite the assertion floated out there that it was ONLY for down-ticket Democrats. He doesn't clarify, however, if down-ticket Democrats in return, donated an equivalent amount they received back to Clinton SuperPACs, creating basically a money swap.

(13,297 posts)Anyone who knows how these fundraisers work understands it isn't just about the money paid for the dinner itself. The process is designed so that folks there also write checks to the candidate. This is about access, or otherwise they would simply skip the private dinner, send their money in the mail and receive a thank-you note or email back.
This is ALL about selective, big-money access.

(108,959 posts)so much of the money is going downticket -- so why are you suddenly so eager to parrot this?
P.S. And he obviously doesn't have any problem with the $5K per couple going to Hillary -- a small amount compared to the sums going to the party -- or he could have done a Democratic fundraiser without her.
