I wish people would see this distraction tactic for what it is.

Every four years we have an election that lasts about a year or so, not counting all the prep before announcing, the primary season being about half of that.

This means we fight the republicans for three of the four years in every cycle. That's 75% of the cycle spent focused on the right. Which is necessary, for sure.

But the ripest time to create actual change, as in progress is during the primary, which is even less time. Roughly six months out of four years, that is. It's absurd to focus on the right during that small window.

I'm not saying ignore the conservatives, but back burner for sure. Keep an eye on them but let's not take our eye off the ball. In the end, it's about actual change, not simply winning a "game."
