The Neocon Nuts Are Reemerging -- Where Did These Fools Come From?

While we’re waiting for Congress to return from their August recess to debate the deal between Iran and the U.S., we’re seeing Republicans making statements about how the deal will embolden Iran to continue their efforts to develop a nuclear weapon, putting the United States at an unnecessary risk. The people out there pushing these talking points are the same ones who told us that we have to invade Iraq in order to stop terrorism.

Ring of Fire’s Sam Seder recently spoke with author David Bromwich about why we need to ignore the Iran talk coming from these war hawks.

1. CNN had CHENEY on today, I heard, talking about something...why in the FUCK

3. As long as they aren't in prison because of their complicity in the

war crimes of the Bush administration, they will pop up forever like malevolent Jack In the Boxes. If America ever needed Nuremberg style trials to cleanse it's soul of the crimes done our name, we need them now if not yesterday.

10. And I hope they are not a "Truth and Reconciliation" but a "Truth and Punishment"

Future chicken-hawks and warmongers won't get the message unless some of their demigods are strung up like common criminals.

13. Exactly. They need to know what the consequences of war mongering truly is.

Right now it's for profit and that's why they do it but if the risks are more than the profits it may make future war profiteers think twice about doing it.

Just look, here the Neo-Cons are again trying to influence policy.

Nobody admits to having liked disco music in the 1970s, but somebody bought those billions of records and polyester clothes. Same thing with neocons. "Oh, I never believed a word they said."

Even watching him slouch and snark his way onto "news" programs makes me switch to teletubbies for purging.

9. These are the undead of PNAC.

That's the Project for the Next American Catastrophe. Lobbying hard for that all-important next American atrocity. And yes, Krauthammer is one of them.

(so is Jeb Bush, but you would never know that from watching the Wall Street media)

Guantanamo is too good for them.

11. And very few of these PNACers ever suited up and actually went to war for their country

that they supposedly are more patriotic about than either you or I are.

These are part of the "YOU First!" crowd. If they want more war so badly, let them sign up, suit up, and ship out - FIRST. Let them really BE the "leaders" they so loudly claim they are.

was creepier than reading "Mein Kamf." Funny how 9/11 coincided so nicely with the motivating crisis called for in their road map to world domination.

16. Yeah, wasn't it just a "coinky-dink" - they were yearning for "a new Pearl Harbor" as the kind of

tipping point they thought they needed to get a good ol' war started.

There used to be these two acronyms that came up all the time during bush/cheney: "LIHOP" and "MIHOP" = "Let It Happen On Purpose" and "Make It Happen On Purpose." I'm of the "LIHOP" crowd. They were warned. In dozens of different ways. From the Russians, the Europeans, even Mossad. Even their own FBI ("Gee, we're getting tips about these Arab types taking flying lessons in Florida and all they want to do is learn how to fly the plane, NOT to take off or land..." and when one young CIA dude went to the pig farm in Crawford Texas to warn the dry-drunk a few weeks ahead of time, bush reportedly told him "okay, you've covered yer ass now."

It's enough to make a body SICK. Certainly our body politick has become dreadfully ill.

20. Rumsfeld reportedly chastised a guy...

... from one of the alphabet agencies for mentioning the Saudis wanting to learn how to fly one-way trips, saying something like, "Goodness gracious! I don't want to hear another word about this!" Of course not. He was one of the architects of this evil scheme.

And, of course, there was Condi Rice asking a Senate committee, "How could we know?" even as she read aloud the headline of a daily briefing report, "Al Qaeda plans to fly a plane into a goddam building!"

But Cheney's vindictive malice had already been demonstrated, though not reported on, and everyone in Washington went foo-foo in their tutus at the mere mention of his name, so wasn't nobody sayin' nuthin' 'bout nuthin'.

Cheney's body hasn't rejected all those hearts; the hearts were just trying to escape from him.

"I don't think anyone could -- have -- predicted -- " And she threw in a few "indeed's" very eloquently enunciated, to continue the impression that she's this world-class "brilliant" smart person. And all the time her head was bobbing in the affirmative. She was clearly a nervous wreck, or at least her body language betrayed that to anyone who might be watching.

22. Maybe it's just my imagination...

... but it sure looked to me like the Bush regime always chose a person of color to tell their biggest lies to the public. It sure pissed off Colin Powell when they gave him drawings of trucks and made-up charts to peddle to the UN. He said, "I can't say this shit!" Or words to that effect, according to people that were backstage with him just before they threw him to the dogs, thus obliterated any hope he might have had for a future in politics.

23. Yep. I remember Colin Powell quoting cheney, during the arm-twisting to get him to go to the UN,

cheney saying to him - "you can afford to lose a few points (in the popularity polls)." Because Colin Powell was the most popular and well-respected member of the bush/cheney entourage. He had the highest public opinion polls of the whole lot. So they sent him out as sacrificial lamb, since he had this pretty much unimpeachable reputation. And they ruined him, too. Cost him whatever credibility he still had.

At one time, Colin Powell was almost literally GOLDEN. He was the guy everybody predicted would be the first African American President. bush/cheney sure took care of that.

17. Dammit all

Every time one of these buttholes pops up on TV my blood boils; especially Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice. These people have no shame and certainly no honor. All they want is more war and chaos - the ultimate distraction for our huddled masses to quit thinking about what's really going on in our country with our money, and most importantly, how we as a nation treat the rest of the world. It's utterly despicable. To see our TV personalities genuflect to these monsters is horrifying. It gives them a credence they don't deserve. They should come on to some Sunday butt-kiss show and have the hosts, camera crew and everybody in the studio turn their backs on them. Just let them stew. No opprobrium, no criminal charges, no shunning or shaming, instead in our exceptional nation, we get to watch these turds actually make money spewing out their hateful ideas. May their toes find sharp corners in the dark the rest of their miserable lives.

Gotta exhale again.

The Shadow Mayor

18. The problem, and I mean THE problem, is that these fools were not discredited in the media

after the Iraq War as they should have been. They should be too ashamed to appear in public.

Maybe the media was mostly concerned with protecting the Bush Administration players from scorn.

No cheerleaders for the Iraq War should appear on TV giving their foreign policy advice, especially on the Iran agreement.

24. That original PNAC document...

... should now be a wanted poster. Every single one of those signatories has the blood of the 3,000 9/11 victims on his hands, and also the millions of casualties of ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Several years ago, I seem to recall reading that Colin Powell had been involved in the My Lai cover-up, and also Iran-Contra. He has an 'intertesting' history, to say the least.

Maybe our master historian OctaFish can fill us in on Powell's grimy past.
