His people also stole that election with hacked electronic voting machines of which the state 100% relied on. Bush/Cheney were in charge on 911. Cleland said the committee was a cover up and a fraud. Too many corporate democrats cowered and didn't confront the truth and that is why we got Bush in 2004. Blame them too.

In their way of thinking,

Republican= Pro-military, Patriotic, Supports the Troops

Democratic= Hates the military, spits on troops

Therefore a veteran who is a Democrat is doubly traitorous, turning against his/her own people.

Remember, these are people who deal with easy categories and oppositions, not with any attention to actual records, facts, or actions.

I asked this on a local ultra right message board and even on Facebook, and so far no one has given an answer.

What did Mc Cain actually do that made him a Hero?

I honestly can not ever remembering anything hat is worth being called a hero him doing.

that he is a war hero.

-He was shot down on his 22 mission, meaning he had succeeded 21 times prior to that.
-He survived over five years as a POW who had been tortured.
-He was offered release and refused to go unless the other prisoners were released as well. He did not think that his rank should give him special treatment.

Whether these actions are heroic or not is in the eyes of the beholder, although I will admit that I would have taken the offer to be released without blinking an eye. To stay is something more than I could see me doing, so maybe that is heroic.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=280178

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Oh, look what oozed in. I think this one qualifies for TOS Article One: "Don't be a wingnut."

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Jul 20, 2015, 02:44 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Does not rise to HIDE level.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Everyone has a different view of what a hero is. A lot of people view that the word is applied far too loosely and easily these days. It's a worthwhile conversation to have.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Huh?
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The alert may be correct. This person may be a Republican trying to act stupid on DU in order to somehow influence? But the post in itself is just pointless and not offensive. The person posting should be watched.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

It shielded him and the other POWs from pending prosecution for aiding the enemy. In McCain's case there was something about 32 propaganda tapes, some of which were broadcast to Americans in Viet Nam.

The Pentagon brass thought him a hero when he shielded them from a lot of work and embarrassment in '92 in the Senate Select Committee on MIA-POW Affairs hearings by personally blocking the bill passed in the House, for access to information on Korean war and Viet Nam War MIA-POWs. (who had officially been considered dead after one year, and denying evidence to the contrary)(see the book "Perfidy - the Government cabal that knowingly abandoned our prisoners of war" by Sgt. Major John Holland and father Patric Bascio) (or the other book "An Enormous Crime - the difinitive account of American POWs abandoned in Southeast Asia" by US Rep. Bill Hendon and Elizabeth Stewart)

Why are McCain's military and medical records sealed? What is he hiding in there? He could prove Trump wrong, if there is proof of his heroism. His father and grandfather were high ranking officers in the navy, and protected him. Read the article written by Matt Taibi from Rolling Stone. All the truth about McCain exposed. He should have been made to pay for the 5 military jets he destroyed, some by showing off. A man without his connections would have been court martialled long before he was captrued.

I listened twice to what Trump said to his interviewer Frank Luntz. i never heard The Rump say McCain wasn't a war hero. He said several times that he WAS a war hero, but that he qualified his war heroism by saying he didn't like war heroes who let themselves get captured, which is a pretty looney tunes thing to say, but not nearly as insulting and dismissive as what the shitboaters for feces said about Kerry. I'm no fan of Trump's (I mock him at every opportunity) but this statement about McCain was small potatoes next to what Kerry was put through day after day in paid ads calling him un American and a traitor.

&spfreload=10

I think the corporate conservative newsrooms are DEEEEELIGHTED with Trump's statement and while it's not clear he ever said what they are spinning that he said, owing an apology to the entire military, the Wolf Blitzers of the world are desperately hoping he has to drop out. The corporate conservative media know that the RePigs will be fucked over, under, sideways, down, backwards, forward, square, and round if Donald Trump gets anywhere near that debate stage and starts insulting every constituency that makes up America.

And I remember how the GOP asshole party dismissed Wesley Clark's heroism when he ran for the Democratic nomination for President in 2004 (I was a strong supporter and contributor). Wesley Clark was wounded in Vietnam like Kerry and a lieutenant and platoon leader and took four bullets to his body. Like Kerry, Wesley Clark received the Silver Star for saving his platoon when under fire. Like Kerry, Clark was mercilessly mocked and criticized by the armchair warriors in the Republican Party. They called him "The Perfumed Prince" as if he were too much of a sissy to have possibly won a Silver Star in jungle combat. They called him mentally incompetent for getting surrounded by the Viet Cong. Rush Limbaugh called him Ashley Wilkes, the somewhat effete and over-refined southern gentleman officer from Gone With The Wind.

I get the sense that "martyrs" is implied. And you only have martyrs when the cause is just. And if the cause is just then that omelet is going to need some eggs getting broken. And somehow the cheerleaders for war are actually part of a Holy Order.

Our military are professional service people. They aren't warriors for some neocons damn crusade.
