Denmark Vesey

For Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church, shooting is another painful chapter in rich history
By Sarah Kaplan
June 18
... From the beginning, the congregation was a focal point of community organizing and anti-slavery activism ... Denmark Vesey, the organizer of one of the nation’s most notable failed slave uprisings, was a leader in the church. He fiercely and insistently preached that African Americans were the new Israelites, that their enslavement would be punished with death, and in 1822 he and other leaders began plotting a rebellion ... But another member of the church, a slave named George Wilson, told his master about the plot. Nearly three dozen organizers — including Vesey — were put on trial and executed ...

Led by my personal hero Captain John Brown of kansas. He showed what a person can do when the abolitionists said nothing can be done! Read Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas and Henry David Thoreaus responses to john brown's attempt to liberate the slaves. I have written a screen play on what can be done for the children coming across the border. You can read it at my website : thealamoisavenged.com People complain about the title until they read the screenplay then it makes sense to them.

Do you know this classic?

A really great thing about it is the depiction of how organized struggle can change attitudes

For some reason, the title reminds me of the Elizabeth Freeman case in Massachusetts

I'll look it up

Your second video. All four are on YouTube in their entirety, I'm pretty sure.
