(31,371 posts)We've definitely seen colder winters here in Chapel Hill--this year and last--than we'd seen
for the other years we've lived here since 2000. In fact, the single digit temps this
winter, plus the snow/ice that stayed on the ground for several days, ended up killing
some of our plants that haven't had problems in winter here.

(52,589 posts)places like Alaska and Antarctica as well as the southern hemisphere were having record warm temps.

(23 posts)He's the Republicreep who invented the term "climate change," because the reality which is global warming was too scary for the sheeple in Jesustown, USA.

(96 posts)And I mean that. The colder temps in a very small part of the world for a short period of time are noted, recorded, adjusted (yes, it's not science if you use raw unadjusted numbers) and this past winter's results are out.
They are and will be part of the resulting global average for various timescales. For the globe, it was a very warm winter. For much of the NE US, but mostly after December 2014, it was very cold.
The saddest thing is that deniers, almost entirely Conservatives, think that this means global cooling. Cue some jackass throwing a snowball on the Senate floor.

(26,598 posts)is so true. People won't even bother to vote. The right wing exaggerations, fox news, the crazy Congressmen, and ex Congressmen, and ex Vice Presidents, appearing smart and sane and unquestioned on the talk shows have accomplished their purpose; putting out nonsense in the face of science and facts. It's not that people agree, it's just that they are turned off and don't participate. The truth is in the voting.
I believe that only an orator and firebrand like Elizabeth Warren can get though the wall Americans have built around themselves and get them to participate in the system.

(2,741 posts)when the deniers have no water to drink, they might understand climate change...but I doubt it. Even those people who are aware of the problems think that someone, somewhere, will fix everything.
