(3,412 posts)We should tell people living Indiana, they that will not be purchasing
anything from them in Illinois. JJ Johns owner lives Indiana, he
is always bashing Illinois. We can buy sandwiches else where, or
make our own. Papa John and the Owner of the CUBS, are GOP
supporters that don't live here.
There a lot of people that come from Indiana, to work and do business
in Illinois. We should pass a law that they cannot come here because
their laws are against are state laws. We should reserve the right to
tell anyone from Indiana, I don't want to do business with a bigot
state, its against my morals.

(6,096 posts)governor....You people have blinders on.
I was born and raised in Indiana, and damn proud of it.
The negativity of this forum is alarming. And because of one week of idiots speaking out their
ass, Governor Pence, or whoever he is....an entire state is guilty.
This world is really sad.

(352 posts)We liberals are vastly outnumbered in the Lone Star State and the entire State is constantly derided because of the actions of its Conservative majority. We understand the derision and work a bit harder to change the State's image. You can do the same. Good luck!

The few Liberals I associate with keeps me sane and happy.

(352 posts)You see, I'm 74 now and get mighty frustrated over my inability to do things that I did so easily when younger. All these fancy, schmansy new tech things that my grandchildren operate with quick manual dexterity coupled with easy understanding are as foreign to me as Mars. And I can tell you about incidents that occurred a half-century ago while unable to remember what today's date is or the name of someone I've known most of my life. So, whenever I perceive some injustice, I rant about it with other old farts on the dead-pecker bench down at the County Courthouse.
There was no television when you and I were kids and radio was used to provide entertainment like "Lum and Abner", "The Lone Ranger", "Amos and Andy" et al. We weren't constantly bombarded by terrible events happening all around the world as we are today. I think that is why young folks call our early years "the good ol' days" because we weren't constantly oppressed by the terrible things that were happening at the time. When you're milking the cow, hoeing the garden, driving your worn-out old car around town on Saturday night, or listening to "the devil's music", you don't have time to consider all the injustices occurring on the planet.
Still, my introduction to "consideration before speaking" was provided by the girl who had a momentary lapse in reasoning and agreed to marry me. Now that I'm old, I can say with certainty that "It takes a good woman to raise a husband".

(6,096 posts)I wish I could find some old farts to talk with at the local breakfast joint in my town. It gets lonely being 70 and all your friends are gone...and everyone hates it when I ask the same question twice....
Deadpecker pench club, eh ???? Love it.
Yes my mother use to think technology was bad when she was 75 iin 93, and would tell me
"In my day we had one KNOB, ON, OFF AND VOLUME....
How right she was!!!!

As I said in another post, I have lots of friends and family in Indiana who think this whole thing is crap and was done covertly against the will of the citizens.
Sadly, because the majority voted for this douche, they are now all labeled as bigots and racists and homophobes, etc. Sadder yet, DU is jumping right on this hatred bandwagon, eye for an eye.

(3,864 posts)Anyone who knows about ALEC knows that it doesn't matter what the citizens think, what legislation gets passed is determined by ALEC-controlled state legislatures.
It is over-the-top moronic to blame a particular state.
I know - I used to live in Texas.
Now I live in NJ. What is the difference?
There are bigots everywhere and there are smart people and progressives everywhere.

(6,301 posts)It doesn't say "Most people in Indiana are bigots" (or even that many of them are, for that matter). It says that it's a great place to be if you are one. Unfortunately I can't see a reason to disagree, and now the law supports jackasses like this restaurant owner who is happy to admit to refusing service to gays.
The fact is, in Indiana we have just enough unthinking voters who will vote for any empty suit whose name is followed with an (R) that we get nonsense like this. The ridicule is far less painful than the reality underlying it.

(25,140 posts)Well to the folks in Indiana----and others that are joining train of bigotry.
This is the new game plan on bigotry, we are going to start carding everyone, to see if you live in any state that signed or is attempting sign into law the so called religious freedom act, which by the way was made up on toilet paper by your friendly outreach program called ALEC, American for Prosperity, and any other nefarious organization that gets / gives its marching orders to your right wing front group called elected political hypocrites--ie....republicans.
When you come to our state we will now ask for your driver licenses in all of our public venues, when said license is produced and shows that you came from ARK, OK, IND or any other state that is bigoted we will then ask for you to leave and refuse service, because discrimination is now religious freedom and since you have no common sense or think outside the box and put yourself in another persons shoes then you are a bigot and we don't like bigots---have nice day, don't let the door hit you in the proverbial ---BUTT

(3,412 posts)If we all stopped doing business with Red states as much as we can,
they will feel their own sting of bigotry. (We could say the Indiana is to immoral to the Christen faith)
I am christen and a Democrats, rule one in my religion it to love everyone!!
The GOP are the minority, at least in this issue, lets pass a law a keeping
states with these bigot laws out of blue states. I live Illinois it has
always made me angry that GOP red state supporters, make money off
my state(which they always bashing) , a state that its good people pay their taxes at high rate. Why
do(GOP) they not at least have to pay a fee to come and do business, they don't live
in our state: we should at least charge them for doing business with us, if we don't agree with
their GOP bigotry.
Example: The owner of Jimmy Johns, lives Indiana, he use to live here. then
he got caught bashing Illinois and taxes. He is a crazy GOP guy who doesn't
want to pay any taxes. He moved to Indiana but still doing business in Illinois,
We should tell him if he is Indiana were they voted for this law, then he should take
your sandwiches out of our state. Illinois can make sandwiches, why do
we need a GOP bigot sandwich maker. Lets send to New York or another blue
state if we have to import great sandwiches from outside our state. They could
make a lot of money, if we kicked JJ out!! (Papa Johns is another, we don't need
GOP pizza in Illinois; We have plenty of good pizza!!)
We could start with not traveling to GOP states at all on vacation!!
