1. So far this does not seem to be going as the two of them wished.

And I admit I do not watch/read far right outlets so maybe I am missing the positive responses.

4. Once again the Republicans are on the wrong side of history

You would think they could figure it out but that would take logic.

28. GOPers don't believe in history but only the enslavement and inequality of it.

If GOPers respected history they would try and avoid the horrors of it in the present and future. Ya Think BiBi would have learned as well but RWers are total sociopaths. Israeli TV blocked his effed-up "bomb bomb bomb Iran" speech.

11. Sorry

, I've seen this on many web-sites. Why would you think that MSM, which is accused of being anti-Netanyahu and the GOP would not jump on this? It's many Israeli politicos and experts against Netanyahu. It's proving that what the Dems have been saying is correct; don't interfere in foreign policy when we are in the middle of delicate negotiations.

14. I don't think the MSM is anti-netanyahu.

The MSM is pro-controversy/instability. If being anti-Netanyahu builds controversy one day, that is how they will be. And the opposite can be true, if the outcome is more useful.

Think of the lies and drum-banging the media engaged in, in the run-up to Iraq 2.0. They got to cover the political fight leading up to it, the political fallout of the protests, the war, and THEN they got to cover the controversy post-war about the lies leading up to it.

Win-win-win for one camp. (The media. Not us, not the Iraqi people, and not even the politicians.)

29. It weakens your opinion to preface it with "sorry"

In the DU thread discussing Senator Mikulski's announced retirement, one comment about her was:

'You had to work hard because she did. Learned not to say or write "I feel", "I think", "maybe". She always said say what you mean, and mean what you say. "It is", "I will", You can". As a women, you did not want to be perceived as "wishy washy".'

I add another "wishy washy" qualifier, whether used by women or men,. That is prefacing one's opinions with, "I'm sorry, but . . . " , or in your post, simply the word, "Sorry". I've learned never to use that phrase - it weakens your point before you even make it. It's an apology. You neither need to nor should apologize for your point of view.

If you wish to convey that you respectfully disagree, then say that.

In conclusion, I respectfully disagree with the use of prefacing political opinions with "sorry."

- But then it's Netanyahu, so I can quite understand them and they're perfectly right.......

9. Specifically, it strengthens the hard line elements of the Iranian political landscape.

That's the shit they LOVE. They LOVE it, because they can use it to drum up support and silence opposition.

Obama's greatest success with Iran has come about by NOT feeding the hard-liners with ultimatums, deadlines, and dire rhetoric.
At this point, it is clear to me that Netanyahu does not desire a peaceful solution at all.

12. Exactly. What is alternative to Iran nuclear agreement?

Another war? And guess who will end up fighting that war if Netanyahu scuttles the process?

It seems to me that Bibi is trying to manipulate us into fighting a war that he wants, and the conservative politicians and media are dancing to his tune.

10. so for decades Israel has been saying jump, and US politicians have been saying how high

Now Bibi thinks he can do anything regarding the U.S. and get away with it. He is probably right.

I would love to see every Democratic member get up and leave. In my dreams.

19. Israel's generals often make a lot of sense

The public have a lot of confidence in the military and not much in government, and military figures don't have to listen to the politics of the moment, so they are free to express a frank opinion.

Israel has a proportionally representative system that never provides a mandate for anything and which forces politicians to chart a political course through more than half a dozen pet constituencies in order to get anything done (the religious, the hardline right, the settlers, the largely white wealthy elites, the largely Sephardic working class, the military, etc etc)

There was a pretty good doco made featuring all of the former heads of the Shin Bet talking a great deal of sense:-

21. I don't get this "Iran Nuke= end of the world" stuff

Even if it were true that Iran is building a nuclear bomb ( most evidence demonstrates they are decidedly NOT doing this), how does one more country with a nuke change things? Especially Iran? That's a civilization whose forebears actually gave shelter to the Hebrews , and showed them how to write down their Torah.

Many argue that Iranian culture began with the Chaldeans. That's 6,000 years ago.

And the argument is, if THEY get the bomb, they will suddenly become suicidal and nuke Israel?

This makes zero sense to me.

22. Enter Stage Right: Dick Cheney

Dick Cheney was in Washington today to meet with Congressional Republicans. Coincidence?

The powers that be (and I mean the REAL powers that be) want a war with Iran, and they are marshaling their forces. And if they can arrange for the Democrat President to spark it all off, they can pretend that their fingerprints are not all over it.

23. Will the 3 major television networks carry his speech live on tv?

Will the political pundits say that we should give control of U.S. foreign policy over to Netanyahu?

Mitt Romney wasn't elected U.S. President in 2012, but the Republicans are trying to go ahead with their plans for war with Iran anyway!
