Thoughts from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

John Green, one of the two brothers of the VlogBrothers YouTube channel, shares his thoughts during a visit this summer to a neonatal ward in Ethiopia. This video isn't new (it came out in July), but I just happened across it and wanted to share. My apologies if it's already been posted to DU.

his little "history" shows are pretty funny.

"capitalism means bigger pizzas" i think that one show got him on the cover of a few magazines here in the u.s.

short on convictions, long on showmanship. he should run for congress.

Hadn't seen the "Bigger Pizzas" video until your reference made me curious. Yes, it's more conservative than my take on things, but I didn't find anything in the video obnoxious. He does, after all, call the pre-ACA state of healthcare in America, with the pre-existing-condition exclusions, "ridiculous."

I am curious why you say Green is "short on convictions." After graduating from college (Kenyon English major), Green worked as a student chaplain in a children's hospital while getting ready to enter divinity school--so, on the face of it, he seems to have his heart in the right place. I've just recently started watching the VlogBrothers, so I'm trying to learn more about them. Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks.

he is very pro-establishment, with the guise of condescending understanding for those who find grievance with the status quo. his history lessons are very glossed over and are also very pro-establishment. he knows how to become wealthy in the u.s. as a talking head, he will succeed here.
