Thom Hartmann: Our Media is the Mouthpiece for the Military-Industrial Complex

How did our media become a mouthpiece for the military-industrial complex? And what does that say about the future of our democracy?

the media doesn't get to declare war, or give orders to generals or fund wars. They are propagandists, yes. But let's not deflect to media, ffs.

The decisions are being made in the White House and the Capitol building. The media will simply do its best to make sure we go along.

"Lesser of two evils."

That meme has major blowback, in political terms. People are way fed up, and may well stay away from the polling places in November.

When I was tabling on a local issue, I heard continually from people that they now realize that politics is a game totally controlled by monied interests, and the chances to get anyone who represents the items that are needed for a return to democracy is not possible with such a controlling factor in existence. Often, the first thing they would say is, "I realized the game was over when the meme came out that we have to accept evil, in order to vote for a 'winning' candidate. Well, I just won't do that again."

These items necessary for a return to democracy are:

One - Peace (NO MORE WARS)

Two - Ending the trade agreements instead of increasing them (Didn't we once have a young articulate guy, a Jr Senator from Illinois, who said if elected to the Oval Office, he would abolish NAFTA? What happened to him? The guy we have now looks like him but supports trade agreements even more heinous than NAFTA!)

Three - No legislative alliances with Big Corporations - being for the middle class and working poor.

Four - Governmental agencies not allied with Big Corporations.

Could you provide a link showing Hartmann acting as a "war apologist when it comes to Crimea and Ukraine"? I'm not doubting you (although I like Hartmann a lot); I'm just trying to learn more and see if what you're claiming is true.
