Bought a similar suit a few years ago for my Sister's wedding. Was leery about wearing it, did so, and was the hit of the reception!

43. I bought a lighter tan one just a few months ago ...

... I didn't realize it was a fashion faux pas, apparently.

I wear it with a blue shirt and blue tie. I think I look pretty good in it, and my colleagues loved it, too.

I didn't realize I was doing anything illegal.

71. Yep - still remember that

he said "I" and "me" too many times during his announcement of bin Laden's death... all the RW were complaining he took single handed credit for it.

I think Center for American Progress then went back and analyzed similar important announcements by Reagan, Bush and Bush and found that Obama actually used "I" and "me" less than those guys.

78. Or call him a warmonger and he'll call them on it and tell them to vote on whether to bomb Syria.

Then they'll run away, like they did when he asked them to repeal the AUMF. Or this summer when they had better things to do and asked him to do their job on foreign affairs.

Then call him weak for not going to war or a dictator for taking action in a crisis they didn't think deserved their time. Their tools will call him a warmonger no matter what he does.

I see a pattern here...

was sporting.

They weren't ambulance chasers, either.

Apparently, the GOP are the last to get the word--they'll only get the spirit if they're pulled over by the Fashion Police....!

I'll admit I don't follow such promanent conservatives as @Gus_802 and @BritniDWrites. The only conservative I saw that commented on the tan suite was Michelle Malkin, who said she didn't have an issue with the suit (and then went on to insult the president for other things).

does work for parties. He shows up at all kinds of events. His little crew of bodyguards wheels him to a table on the side and he grins maniacally.

Guess he's glad to still be alive and kicking. Only wonder what his potty mouth wife thinks about these photo ops. She's never around at any of the events where my friend has been.

She called me from her cellphone during a lull at the first party she saw him attending. He wasn't the featured guest, just had a table there. Guess he gets many free meals.

I said 'eeww' and she said something I won't repeat here. Yes, the help are watching. They'll smile but don't like what they see.

I'm no big fan of lipstick, but it looks better on white women than on black women. The flip side is that a black person of either sex has a better background for a smile -- white teeth just gleam more when surrounded by dark skin.

In a dark suit, he looks very light-skinned, almost like a white guy who didn't use sunscreen on vacation.

In this suit, he looks like Morgan Freeman's little brother.

So to paraphrase: Obama has a solution to the Middle East problem, and he's wearing a tan suit. What do you think people are going to focus on?

However, I do agree that most of the hatred has to do with the fact that he's a Democrat.

If Hillary had won in 2008, we'd be having a similar discussion, only instead of hating him because he's black, it's hating her because she's a woman.

85. Bubba was a white male and was only the 2nd President in US history to be impeached.

He was not even a liberal Democrat.

Best I can figure, his only real "sin" was running as a Democrat.

However, I do think that Republicans play the race and gender cards, in part because some of them are that way and in part because they know their base. With Bubba, it was another card Republicans have used against Democrats for a long time, namely, the "Loose morals, no family values, just like Hollywood liberals" card.

56. Yep, race/Dem has a lot to do with it. During Clinton

their racism was not in your face as it is now. GOPers have lost their minds and bringing the Country down a spinal hate fest. Divide and conquer.

GO VOTE!

Conservatives seem to hate Boehner just as much...

63. Representative Peter King, not Representative Steve King

Rep. Peter King was the culprit and not Rep. Steve King. And I thought Peter King was halfway intelligent. Just proves the GOP is all crackers.

64. Peter King has been know

to drink some.
In 04 he was White House celebration before the election and obviously drunk when he said, "This election is over. It's all over but the counting and we'll take care of the counting." History will prove he wasn't joking about rigging the election.

I doubt even Bill Clinton ever would have gotten this much flak over a tan suit.

72. What bothers them more than anything is that he's a good President.

Nothing drives the right more insane than having their racism turned on its head. Exposing them to smart, liberal, black men is like poking some kind of psychic wound reminding them they lost the Civil War and WW2.

Ever since Clinton signed the telecommunications Act of 1996, we get nothing but crap 24/7.

It was Cha I believe, that as much as I love and support President Obama, that color just does not do him justice. He's a good looking guy and I think most everything he wears makes him look sharp.

94. Good grief, 'those people' don't know HOW to be honest about ANYTHING.

Of course they're worst of all regarding our President Barack Hussein Obama, who looks smashing no matter what he wears. We just need to love him more than they hate him, to bring balance back into the universe. (That's easy for me. If I had got to make up my own president, couldn't have done better myself.) Nobody's perfect, not even me, but he damn sure runs circles around the rest.

99. Agree - I doubt they would have prefered the seersucker suits worn by Rep Senators in 2006

Thanks to DU archives, we have the articles describing who wore them - and per the Hill - looked like ice cream vendors - but alas, the links to articles and photos are dead. Imagine President Obama had appeared in a seersucker suit rather than the dignified, well tailored suit in a color that looked very good on him.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=273x91593

Obama's suit is very classy and he looks great. It does seem that most summer suits seem to get those attacks. For years, I saw negative comments on Kerry wearing suits a similar color.

However, to me, when the Republicans and media are attacking on something as innocuous as the color of a suit -- ignoring that it is of course well tailored -- it means Obama has given them very few PERSONAL things to complain about. The same thing could be said of complaining because he took what was a total of about 2 weeks - interrupted by a planned few days in DC - quietly vacationing with his wife and daughters again shows they have little else. That he was in meetings, being briefed and making calls a significant part of the time in Martha's Vineyard as well makes the accusations even sillier.
