(6,045 posts)Did anyone know this..."he (Rob Hustle) made the track available on iTunes for 99 cents. The proceeds will go to Bounkham Phonesavanh, the then-19-month-old baby who was critically injured by a police flash-bang grenade during a raid in May."
Here is the Press Release Rob Hustle released with the song..."Increasing militarization of police in our country is becoming a threat to life and liberty. Laws are supposed to help and protect people. But when those laws and the people that enforce them become the danger, then someone must raise their voice. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Who watches the watchers? Me, you and other artists who care."
He is nailed it!!

(46,682 posts)If this doesn't attest to two different realities in America, nothing else will.
By comparison, (anecdotally) I was told that a cop let a white kid go free instead of hauling him in for a DUI when the kid was quick enough to show the cop his application to college. I see that a lot around here. There is definitely a "who needs it more" mentality, and by "who needs it more" they really mean, who has the financial resources to make the most of the breaks/favoritism they are given.
Does not bode well for poor whites or minorities in general based on their perspective.

(50,983 posts)There are far too many examples of out of an control law enforcement community.
Imagine yourself on the receiving end.
I had a friend that went through just such abuse at the hands of an officer. His life was threatened with the cop's side arm while he was in cuffs in the back of the cruiser.

(7,759 posts)Then they will understand why there is so much anti-government, anti-police sentiment out there among the 99%. I didn't see one three-piece-suit-and-tie banker or Wall Street criminal being treated this way. People should start calling the cops on their brokers and financial manager...especially those controlling 401-Ks and other pension funds.

(18,124 posts)the way our vaunted exceptionalism is practiced on the 99%. Truly, truly disturbing. So many unarmed people brutalized by the 'peace officers' of amerika, EVERYDAY!!!!!! Not surprising nor a revelation. Amerika has been this way since.......at least since I marched for my civil rights and right to take part in the vote for.............usually, crooks. Few standouts over the course of our history, but overall corrupted by money.
