I doubt we're ever hear a rational discussion of climate change on Nova.

Counts as "downplaying" the problems we currently face due to carbon emissions.

It's entirely possible that NOVA isn't hitting the issue the way, for instance, NDGT did in Cosmos (on FOX, oddly enough) but that is a separate question.

Simple fact is, when the indian plate slammed into the asian one, driving up the himilayas, it sucked all the moisture out of the jetstream which had been feeding african rainforests, causing MASSIVE environmental changes in africa which quite likely played a part in human evolution.

I find discussions on that stuff fascinating, not bothersome.

One does have to wonder about NOVA not doing any of their wonderful science shows on Climate Change &..."Koch, who's a major funder of propaganda rejecting the science of climate change, is also one of the main underwriters of the popular PBS science program Nova–which is in itself a case of strange bedfellows. (Another major sponsor of Nova is ExxonMobil, the other top funder of science-denial in support of oil industry profits.)"

So, when they do finally mention Climate Change in "Becoming Human" they do it in a way that makes it seem harmless if not a good thing...

Narrator: It is a simple but revolutionary idea: Human evolution is nature's experiment with versatility. We're not adapted to any one environment or climate, but to many; we are creatures of climate change.

Geographer Mark Maslin: I think we should actually look to our proud ancestry and how we evolved in East Africa and say: "That's how we survived that. We can survive the future, because we are that creature, because we are that smart."

Who knows if they are pressured by the Koch Bros. & regardless if the above is just Liberal paranoia, where is the NOVA Climate Change shows? They have done documentaries on almost every science topic one could imagine. They do cover climate change in print on the website I almost positive.

At this point is worth talking about. IMHO.

They fund the other side because it makes it very hard for NOVA to bite the hand that feeds it. It has a subtle influence on what NOVA chooses to "emphasize".

Big Ag; Big Tobacco does this as well. Then they control the message.
