It looks like Republicans have a shot at winning the Senate after the 2014 election, and Democrats need to understand why that is. Ring of Fire’s Mike Papantonio fills in for Thom Hartmann on The Big Picture to discuss how Democrats need strong voices like Elizabeth Warren.

1. What has hurt the party most is.

That Obama ran on a populist message and then abandoned it once elected...that does not inspire much confidence in a populist message giver.
And right now the public is not willing to believe what they are told by a politician...especialy on the left.
The right on the other hand delivers every time they get in power just what they say they will deliver, more austerity and lower taxes for the rich.

It is almost as if President Obama followed a script to sow mistrust.

I mean, failing to prosecute Wall Street?

Failing to do ANYTHING about the Bush crimes.

Failing to communicate the true source of the deficit.

Pushing a Republican/Bush education strategy.

Voluntarily extending the Bush tax cuts.

Proposing Chained CPI.

Enacting and proposing more free trade deals against the clear wishes of the people of the nation.

If this isn't a WTF moment I do not know what is.
