Democratic convention stomps Repugnants truth-burning party in Nielsons
As a follow-up to my post, Republican Truth burning party bombs in the Nielson ratings, I checked how Democratic Convention did. According to Nielson, for three nights the Repugs got a total audience of 74.5 million, while the Democratic Convention totalled 87 million viewers (even with a Pro Football game on night 2).
Obama's speech drew an audience of 35.7 million versus Romney's speech audience of 30.3. Clinton drew 25.1 million beating the pro football game's .. 20 mil while Ryan drew a mere 21.9 million for his speech. wonder what Clinton would have gotten if there wasn't a football game on?
An estimated 25.1 million people watched the convention between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, when former President Bill Clinton delivered an impassioned nomination speech for President Barack Obama, the Nielsen ratings company said.
During that hour, just over 20 million people were watching the second half of the Dallas Cowboys' season-opening victory over the New York Giants. Faced with competition from Clinton, ratings for football's first game were down from the past two years.
Michelle Obama drew an audience of 26.2 million. Ann Romney drew 22.3 million viewers.
The Democratic convention held up well compared to 2008 when there was much more Democratic voter enthusiasm.
Democratic Convention Ratings Beat Football Game
Democratic convention ratings held up well compared to 2008, when interest was particularly high. The Democrats had a four-day convention then, with 25.9 million viewers on the second day and 24 million on the third. None of those nights faced competition from pro football.
This is an indication of interest in the speeches, but is it an indication of enthusiasm to go vote?
