'White Supremacists' Arrested While Trying To Amplify Protest Violence, Richmond Mayor Says

'White supremacists' arrested while trying to amplify protest violence, Richmond mayor says.' Daily Kos, July 27, 2020. Excerpts, Ed.:

We’ve had evidence for some time that right-wing extremists have been lurking at anti-police protests around the nation, amplifying the violence by engaging in vandalism, assaults, and attacks on police—often while pretending to be there to support Black Lives Matter and antifascists leading the protests.

This weekend in Richmond, Virginia, police arrested several such saboteurs during a Black Lives Matter protest, according to city Mayor Levar Stoney. “White supremacists” were carrying pro-BLM signs and breaking windows at downtown businesses, Stoney said, but were stopped when BLM protesters pointed them out to police.

"We've spoken on many occasions about those who've chosen a more violent route to express their discontent, and what that does for the overall movement towards social justice," Stoney told reporters Sunday. "Last night that reared its ugly head right here in the City of Richmond ... We saw some violent actions, violent protests, spearheaded by white supremacists. And frankly, it was disgusting. Disgusting. As they held plywood shields that read, BLM, these folks toured areas of damage downtown, The Fan, breaking windows, tagging private property with hateful language."

Stoney thanked the protesters who called it out. "As I began with, I want to send a thanks to the BLM protesters on the ground who decried the white supremacists once they were identified. I'm thankful to you for drawing the line and sticking up not just for the sanctity of your movement, but also the safety of your fellow Richmonders that you marched alongside as well."..In reality, “antifa” is definitively opposed to white supremacism, while the “Boogaloo boys” are primarily a far-right movement (including some white supremacists) that have been using the protests to widen their recruitment base by marching on the anti-police side...

2. Here's a good article from Forbes (7/12/20 - updated)

https://www.forbes.com/sites/waynerash/2020/06/17/boogaloo-movement-tied-to-murder-violence-and-disinformation-during-protests/#17013ceb552c

"Members of a shadowy movement known as the Boogaloo Boys have been implicated in a series of violent protests and the distribution of misinformation regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus and in violent racial protests in a number of cities in the U.S. In addition, the Boogaloo Boys have been specifically mentioned in charging documents against Steven Carrillo filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Carrillo is charged with killing a member of the Federal Protective Service and wounding another. In addition, he has been charged with killing a sheriff’s deputy in Santa Cruz County, California.

The Boogaloo Boys, of which Carrillo is alleged to be a member, have been deeply involved with disinformation activities following the lockdowns related to COVID-19.

In a report made public on June 17, 2020, Blackbird.AI traces these activities including the armed mob that protested at the Michigan statehouse on May 1, 2020, and the subsequent flood of disinformation to the Boogaloo Boys.

“In the lead-up to these protests and others like it across many other states around the country, there was significant online inflammation of what was characterized as the government's unusual and overbearing reach into private lives in the form of closing down cities and businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the report says."

5. I'm encouraged that both the mayor and the PD are

taking this to the media. And I have no doubt that these same groups are doing this at every protest.

If every city and PD would ID and out these f*ckwads, maybe these protests can move us forward.

4. This administration understands fascists are very fine people

because the real problem is the ambiguously defined anti-fascists, who could be anyone they don't like. Armed agents focus their time on unarmed moms and dads in peaceful protest, not the violent white supremacists smashing things.

Fox News has repeatedly told their viewers that graffiti is violence but shooting rubber bullets at people's faces is not.
