It's Washington's D-Day, and the city is under siege by Trump's forces

The D-Day in D.C. this year was nothing like D-Day on June 6, 1944, when American-led forces landed on beaches in Normandy. The Districtís D-Day actually occurred days earlier, when the White House ordered the invasion of Washington, D.C., by armed federal authorities.

The Normandy invasion was aimed at liberating Western Europe from the control of Nazi Germany. The White House-directed incursion was designed to capture territory around Lafayette Square by subduing peaceful protesters with rubber bullets and chemical gas, thus making it safe for President Trump to walk across the street to St. Johnís Episcopal Church to have himself photographed at the church holding up the Bible like a trophy.

The field commander of Trumpís invasion was a tie-less Attorney General William P. Barr, who had all the bearing of an overstuffed Napoleon minus the cocked hat.

The Battle of Normandy lasted from June to August 1944. How long Trumpís forces will occupy a growing expanse of downtown Washington is known only to him, and maybe his brain trust, which includes daughter Ivanka, reported to have dreamed up her daddyís stroll to St. Johnís. She also trailed him to the church carrying in her purse the Bible that was used as prop in his photo op.
