George Conway: Trump went ballistic at me on Twitter. Here’s why he reacts with such rage.

Americans died from covid-19 at the rate of about one every 42 seconds during the past month. That ought to keep any president awake at night. ... Not Donald Trump.

Just days ago, the president flipped out at a detailed New York Times article that described how he watches television at all hours, obsessed about how he’s covered in the news. As though to prove the story’s thesis, Trump rage-tweeted that it was a “phony story” and that the media would say “Anything to demean!” ... And then, as though to prove the point again, at 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Trump went ballistic on Twitter — at me.

In a four-tweet screed, he attacked me and my colleagues at the Lincoln Project as “LOSERS,” “loser types,” “crazed” and “a disgrace to Honest Abe.” About me, he said, “I don’t know what Kellyanne did to her deranged loser of a husband, Moonface, but it must have been really bad.” Ten hours later, on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews, Trump was still enraged, ranting about us for nearly two minutes in front of the media.

What triggered his ire was a 60-second online ad we released Monday. Entitled “Mourning in America,” it’s an inversion of President Ronald Reagan’s famous 1984 reelection campaign ad, “Morning in America.” Reagan’s ad took credit for the resurgence of the American economy. Our ad puts the blame for the government’s failures in responding to covid-19 right where it belongs — on Trump. He dithered for 10 weeks, from January to mid-March, misleading the public about the severity of the crisis, pretending that the virus would never take hold here. History will record that each day of delay cost American lives.

... you should be able to read the entire column. Somehow the paywall doesn't activate on that link in his Twitter account.

Another way is to right-click on the link in DU and when the window opens select the option to "open link in incognito window." When you do that WaPo cannot read your cookies and see that you've already received your limit of 5 per month, or whatever it is.

2. When stupidity is attacked by intelligence
Thu May 7, 2020, 07:15 AM
May 2020

the result is more stupidity. A real man or woman would have taken the ad in stride and focused on the problems besetting the nation. Like the deaths of 10s of 1,000 of our citizens, for example. A stupid man would obsess over the attack and have a whiney ass, spoiled little boy "mad" in front of the entire world.

Trump is a stupid man.

His loyal followers are stupid people. Not just the "screw my self interest, I jus' wanna get one over on them libs!" stupid people. But also the greedy rich psychopaths who support him are stupid people: they think they are controlling him as he destroys the fabric of the Republic and endangers its economy by turning the very tax law into a goddam Ponzi scheme (where the rich get richer, for the time being, and the rest of us can go to hell.)

Trump uses the term "losers" as the worst sort of insult -- but it's deflective. He uses it to focus his own weakness on his enemies. The schoolyard version of "I'm a loser? Oh, no, you're the losers, big fat losers, you, not me!" cried out by the little kid in the center of a laughing circle of his peers.

I believe this may be the purpose of installing the cretin in the WH.

"they think they are controlling him as he destroys the fabric of the Republic and endangers its economy by turning the very tax law into a goddam Ponzi scheme (where the rich get richer, for the time being, and the rest of us can go to hell.)"

Absolutely. They think they don't need any truly democratic (or our facsimile thereof) government to prosper. They don't want the rest of us around. I will agree that they are stupid because the end game will end up killing them also.

27. If there's a second (god help us) Trump term
Thu May 7, 2020, 12:36 PM
May 2020

America's sinking into a third world country will accelerate, citizens rights will become more and more ignored or cancelled altogether, and the fat pigs ruining the economy will find themselves with less and less gold to compete for -- in the end they'll devour themselves, save maybe for one or two oligarchs with Russian surnames.

A dictator's decision to wage war will depend on the ability -- the guaranteed ability -- to win that war. Trump may, in fact, wage a war against Iran, for example. But he will lose that war because Iran will not allow itself to be defeated and because American supply lines will be stretched to the snapping point and because America's one time allies like France and the U.K. will diplomatically tell us to go to hell. Russia, ah Russia, will offer to help -- at a price. And Russia will also help Iran -- at a smaller price. That will keep things going, deaths spiraling upward as American power spirals downward, and Russia will be the better off for it!

But, of course, China will be much better off for it.

Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, and Conway are very effective. Wilson with his humor. Schmidt with his solemness, and Conway with his pin point accuracy. It's nice to have them on our side against Trump. Why are they Republicans? I know Wilson and Schmidt
say they are no longer but I doubt they will not return to their party. What is their beef with Democratic party beliefs?

"When they go low, we go high." isn't the way to do it.

When they go low, we go high and lower.

The standard bearers stay out of the mud, but the foot soldiers get down into it.

Biden probably shouldn't go around calling Trump a deranged mass murderer, but independent actors sure as hell should.

Even nicer would be the British Hedgehog. The Hedgehog fired a spread of multiple charges forward from the attacking destroyer. Most of them would miss -- but some would score direct hits. Hedgehog charges detonated on contact, so even one hit would be devastating.
