One thing Trump won’t brag about in his State of the Union: his plans to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/one-thing-trump-wont-brag-about-in-his-state-of-the-union-his-plans-to-cut-social-security-medicare-and-medicaid-2020-02-04

However, over the past three years, the president has proposed changes that would translate to billions of dollars in cuts to the benefits available. In his 2020 budget alone, Trump proposed spending $1.5 trillion less on Medicaid, $575 billion less on Medicare and $25 billion less on Social Security.

In a lazy nod to his campaign promise, he said these changes would come from finding savings in the programs, not reducing benefits, but reality does not bear that out. He also proposed new work requirements for Medicaid and supported every bill Republicans put forward to repeal the Affordable Care Act — every one of which would have shrunk Medicaid.

And last week, his administration put forward a new rule to cap Medicaid spending by letting states accept block grants that would only cover some of the program’s costs.

Last month, Trump gave up the pretense of upholding his campaign promise. In an interview he gave in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, he said that cuts to these vital programs were most definitely on the table.

Trump opens door to Social Security cuts

We need to hammer this home to the voters. NO Democrat is proposing reduction in benefits.

I realize that will be dreadful for those on SSDI but the header is a tad misleading.

It will send some from this population back to the family attics and regional treatment centers they came from 50 years ago. One more example of tRump's cruelty and narcissistic values.

he's taking SNAP away, cutting Medicare, Medi-cal, and SSI . .

And apparently closing 3 dozen Military Hospitals. Families will lose up to $1,300 per year. Families can't afford healthcare.

Minimum wage jobs, part time jobs . . .

He's already lost many farmers in those red states he desperately needs. And the rumor is that the Rust Belt might show up this time. Take Putin and Diebold out of the equation and we might have a landslide.
