Swede Activist Greta Thunberg, AU Boaters Depart US On 48' Sailboat, 'La Vagabond' From Hampton, VaLast edited Wed Nov 13, 2019, 11:40 AM - Edit history (2)
HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg has left North America to begin her return trip across the Atlantic aboard a 48-foot (15-meter) catamaran sailboat whose passengers include an 11-month-old baby.
Thunberg tweeted that she set sail Wednesday morning from Hampton, Virginia, where she hitched a ride with an Australian family aboard a catamaran named La Vagabonde. They left shortly before 8 a.m. The boat leaves little to no carbon footprint, counting on solar panels and hydro-generators for power. The trip could take two to four weeks, and November is considered offseason for sailing across the Atlantic. She’s hoping to make it back to Europe in time to attend a United Nations climate meeting that was moved to Madrid in early December. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/thunberg-teen-climate-activist-leaves-us-aboard-catamaran/ar-BBWHusw?ocid=HPCOMMDHP15 ~ Bon Voyage, Intrepid Young Travelers! ![]() Read More, https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142394364 SEE #11 ![]() - Greta Thunberg on 'La Vagabonde' with Riley Whitlum, Nikki Henderson, Elayna Carausu & baby Lennon. &feature=player_embedded - Early today Greta & her father (red cap) board 'La Vagabond' & depart from Hampton, Va.

1. Seems a little dangerous this time of year to cross the Atlantic on a 48 ft. sailboat...
I hope they have a safe journey.

4. Read all about it. Greta & Dad spent last nite on the boat in Hampton.
A couple days ago she attended the last rally in Charlotte, NC. I've been following this story but knew nothing about Hampton till last nite. I would love to have seen her somehow.
