Trump's tendency to double down on bad ideas doesn't bode well for the economy

There are lots of reasons to worry about how President Trump would handle a recession, should we tip into one. Thereís his incompetent economic team. Or the limited fiscal policy tools at his disposal, given that Republicans already spent nearly $2 trillion on tax cuts. Or his efforts to discredit the Federal Reserve just when weíll need it most.

One underrated concern: Trumpís tendency to double down on stupid and destructive ideas, despite ó perhaps because of? ó overwhelming evidence of their stupidity and destructiveness.

Trumpís worst policies, economic or otherwise, tend to follow a pattern. First, he posits something like: Sure, the experts say that has predictably high costs and bad consequences. But ignore them! Believe me, itís a great idea, and itíll be completely costless.

To wit: Tax cuts will pay for themselves, without injury to deficits. China will pay all the tariffs, without harm to U.S. importers, manufacturers, retailers, farmers. Mexico will pay for the wall, without costs to U.S. taxpayers or international relations.

1. Bad ideas and BAD STRATEGIES!

Trump be playin' ham-fisted tiddly-winks, (because checkers may be a bit too nuanced for him, but I bet he would like the KING ME part) while China gonna' be playing chess, go and backgammon on his portly orange haunches and bustin' some good moves on the Dotard in Chief.

Wake me when he gets us to the part where the US is on its hands and knees before the dragon, winning biglyer.

2. But he doesn't have ham fists.

He has tiny little baby hands.

Pay attention to Trump when he says the economy is going down the drain if he is not reelected.

He is telling us what shape he will leave the country in.

Despite his excuses, Trump gets full credit for any bad in the economy just as he takes full credit for any good in the economy.

4. Ali Velshi just mentioned this.

He said that tRump's doubling down as he normally does will make the economy worse and fast since China won't play his games. He will drive us into a recession bigger and faster due to his "personality flaws" and crazy behavior.
