Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to Prevent Same-Sex Couples Hospital Visitation Rights

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2011/05/17/wisconsin-governor-scott-walker-to-prevent-same-sex-couples-hospital-visitation-rights/

.....Doug asks, “Is the GOP hatred for gays so pervasive that they could really be this cold and heartless?”

Walker is literally going out of his way to prevent two people in a loving, committed relationship from visiting one another at the hospital. In other words, at what is quite likely a couple’s darkest hour, Scott Walker wants to impose legal restrictions barring two people from being with one another.

how the heck could two gay people or even two close friends of the same sex or whatever(I think friends are as important as family) visiting each other possibly hurt Walker or anyone else? Oh it can't so this is just really mean spirited. I hope he goes to jail.

Walker is a cold-blooded sociopath, just one of many who dominate republican politics and corporate America. There is no psychological help for that. He couldn't care less who hates his ass or why so long as he wins. That's the way it is. Suggesting that he needs help is an act of compassion that he wouldn't understand but would consider a laughable weakness to use against you.

worming their way into high positions of power and authority. Many CEOs are psychopaths, as are many Wall Streeters. They tell a good story and are heartless and no conscience.

We see more and more of this each day. And what we have now with unregulated capitalism and rewards for outrageous cutthroat behavior is fertile ground for psychopaths. This guy has to be voted out of office.

Those feeling good about elder and gay abuse had best watch their own back, because they might be next.

Someone like Walker doesn't give a damn who he persecutes.

What we really need in this country are psychological evaluations for those running for high offices. More needs to be looked at for candidates than just a good stump speech and rhetoric.

If they have a standard test that shows whethwer people are stable or
are paranoid or psychotic would be neat.

But, then there would be classes for people to learn how to answer the test.

Of course, the true psychopaths won't care, will they.

Another thought, when people come up for recall they need to be
stopped from creating any new "bad" policy. This is like the people
who erase all their computer files when they get laid off. the damage
is just as bad if not worse.

Think?

no idea how some form of a standard test would come about for determining if people are stable or are paranoid or psychotic, etc. but listening to candidates these days I detect some of them have a few definite problems.

What is bothersome is these folks can do so much damage today in high-powered office levels. In the past it took some time, there was more of a ripple effect, but these days things move so quickly. I can just hear all of the screaming if someone proposed something like this.

The Forbes story that tipped us off is from last year — we neglected to read the fine print. Last year, Scott Walker tried to kill same-sex couples’ hospital visitation rights, but his attempts were defeated. We apologize for the error, and have amended the content below to reflect our error.

Salon writer Glenn Greenwald tweeted the same Forbes story today, so we’re in good company.

It's become so standard, my shields are up. It gets the predicable tsk-tsks but it doesn't touch the wallets of the powerful.

Current Formula: A Right Wing governor, a talk-show host, or Republican candidate does/says something extreme. Progressives and liberal go ape-s** and devote all their resources, columns and fundraising to push back again the extreme meme. The extremists doubles down, keeps on keeping on - double-down style.

Future Possibility: Just when Progressives and/or Dems think they have their talking points in place (culture wars, racism, women issues etc.) zap. The mega buck PACS launch a pre-election tactic that shifts the total agenda. The Economy? Iran? PACS and interest groups have the $$ to either wreak havoc in the markets, annihilate the economy or pump the war machine.

Sorry, friends. I am too cynical at this point to take anything at face value.

On June 5th I will drive from Ohio to sit on the grounds of the Wisconsin State Capital
just to feel the feelings of millions of pissed off badgers as they toss Scott out on his ass.
Even as a straight man Walker's act to keep friends and or lovers from seeing each other
in the hospital really pisses me off. How nasty can one person be?

There are probably medical studies proving that visits by loved ones increase the likelihood of recovering from illness / disease / etc. One could argue therefore that there is a valid medical reason for allowing these visits, and that the patient`s Constitutional Rights are being violated if the visits are denied. And the hospital could be sued for malpractice as well. I really think any competent lawyer could put together such a case by, oh, say lunchtime. I think anyone interested should pursue this angle (if it hasn`t already been pursued).

No one with a good heart, no one with compassion, no one with any feelings or concerns for others will someday be at Walkers side if and when he gets the big picture. It will be a very lonely time for him when he realizes what he regarded as victories in his life are his forever. To see himself in an eternal existence of his own divisive and insensitive creation can be nothing less than a horrible and lonely way to go.

I live in a state where the legislature recently voted to keep being LGBT a criminal offense. Because of many things, we're thinking of moving, and I know others not LGBT that are thinking of moving too. They just don't like/trust the political environment and the craziness of the state.

weeks something comes along to violate more civil rights of all types of people. Women, minorities, gays, it's just endless, and is getting worse and worse.

And when it's not the abortion stuff the hate group Phelps family comes along with protests. And, KS has a very strange RW governor and legislature. The fight is useless. And recently one legislature told one minority group if you don't like it leave.

And the governor wonders why people are leaving. Life is too short to put up with RW states in the 21st century. Some of these places want to go right back to the dark ages
