Statement by the WH Press Secretary re: Chairman Cummings and Democrats on the House Oversight Comm.
STATEMENTS & RELEASES
Statement by the Press Secretary
Issued on: July 15, 2019
Today, Chairman Cummings and Democrats on the House Oversight Committee continued their purely political campaign to harass the President and his close advisors. Democrats continue to overreach and politicize the Office of Special Counsel this time, by trying to silence Kellyanne Conway with ill-founded, phony allegations about the Hatch Act. The Committee clearly knows that under long-standing, bipartisan precedent founded in the Constitution, a Presidents senior advisers cannot be compelled to appear before Congress. Immunity has been asserted for Ms. Conway, which the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel and White House Counsel strongly reaffirmed. This constitutional protection ensures that future Presidents of the United States can effectively execute their responsibilities of the Office.

(18,770 posts)1. Rule of law means squat now.
I fear we might be reaching a point of no return in regards to the America we were at the height of the Obama era.
Sorry for my pessimism, but I'm disgusted by the silence from the GOP about Trump's racism.

Her career trajectory should end up like Sarah's,
hiding under her desk, ultimately terrified of the press and devoid of a shred of integrity and credibility.
