Evangelicals are naked before the world

“There has never been anyone who has defended us and who has fought for us, who we have loved more than Donald J. Trump. No one!”

This recent statement by religious-right activist Ralph Reed is objectively true, at least when it comes to sloppy kisses for the president. Considered purely as a political transaction, religious conservatives have gotten two appointments to the Supreme Court who set their hearts aflutter. They, in return, have shifted from the language of political realism to the language of love.

Trump has not gone back on the conservative promises of his 2016 campaign. More than that, he has not let up in his attacks against liberal elites who disdain religious conservatives. Reed is correct that Trump has “defended us” and “fought for us.”

But this language itself should raise warning signs. Is this really how most conservative Christians view the political enterprise — as the vindication of their own interests rather than the good of the whole? Were Christian political activists of the 19th century — such as William Wilberforce , Frederick Douglass , Charles Grandison Finney and Harriet Beecher Stowe — primarily concerned with the respect accorded to their own religious community? No, they were known for taking the side of the oppressed and vulnerable.

They are the angels that fell from heaven. And now it appears that many others have fallen into the trap of darkness.
These pseudo-spiritual, right wing, fundamentalist, anti-christians are the dark ones who support evil on this earth.
See how easily they gave up their so called religious beliefs to rally behind the Father of Lies.
They don't follow Jesus because his message of love is not in harmony with their dark souls.
The message of hate is what resonates with them.
Trump has unmasked them, and rallied them to him.

The only way to oppose them is with love. If you fall into their hate trap, you begin the process of corrupting you own soul.

They will all pretend to have straightened out, like Jimmeh Swaggart, and continue.

What are the rules in censorship of language when it comes to simply quoting the POTUS? I'd like to see someone push that as far as it can go.

I want to see an all out attack on evangelicals this time around. They are his most consistent and loyal base of voters. If we can disrupt their rapturous gaze at their Dear Groper for even a few seconds, make even a few of them, if not switch to Democratic, then at least keep them at home out of shame in 2020, it would help immensely.

jesus an it's irresponsible for the pollsters to keep ignoring that.

the dominionists are a smaller subset

many of the scumbag preachers in this country realized the best way to connect with cons is to listen to what the flock and their husbands and friends are listening to the other 5 or six days, and then connect to that on sunday.

someone read that editorial to me it's ridiculous that the major pundits, who mostly live in cities, are still completely oblivious to the constant ubiquitous coordinated attacks on science and intellectualism and liberalism by a few hundred fake lying hypocritical hateful christianists dominating 40 states with 80 senators

The Republican Party likes to cloak itself in their language of religion. We should call out hypocrisy when we see it. For a party that associates itself with Christianity to say that it is OK to suggest that God would smile on the division of families at the hands of federal agents, that God would condone putting children in cages has lost all claim to ever use religious language again.

but today's conservative ideology is nothing but identity politics. They don't actually care about values or ideologies -- those are rationalizations or excuses. What they care about is their own kind of people (white, christian, patriarchal) vs other kinds of people.

What I have learned over decades of arguing with mainstream conservatives is that you never know what rationale or value system or philosophy they are going to pull out to justify their position, but you always know whose side they're going to take when someone like them is in conflict with someone not like them.

I have some relatives I avoid like the plague on my step mom's side. They're all total morons. I ran into one of them about 2 weeks ago & he decided to tell me women can't multitask because we were made with incomplete brains. Yep. Mofo said that. I told him " Let me see how many men can breast feed while cooking dinner & helping a second grader with their homework & answering business calls all at the same time YOU IDIOT MAN. " Then he told me I'm a man hater. I just walked off. He's an idiot.

Evangelicals are hateful, ugly people to their core. Now everyone sees that.

They have poured poison in their well. Their numbers will shrink because they embraced a man who brags about sexual assault.

Mayor Pete says it so plainly. They don’t get to use their piety any more.

Some evangel-istas are counting on the Mangled Apricot Hellbeast accelerating or triggering the end-time prophecies from Revelations. They want him to start Armageddon, convinced that they will be assumption-ed up in the Rapture, escaping all the troubles and strife their sad, pointless lives have wrought. And they will do anything to help facilitate that doomsday prophecy. Despite what the rest of us may believe/feel/want.

As happy as I would be to watch their departure from this earthly plain, I think we’ve been through enough tribulations, thank you very much. Just those since November 2016 would try the patience of Job! And we have miles to go... until November 2020.

It’s fun to mock the fundies. But stay alert! They’re not to be trusted with anything that might impact the rest of us, including and especially earthly politics.

I have seen the remains of a young man, bound, gagged, and tortured to death, tossed in a ditch. It is a bad experience, flies, blood, it is viscerally horrible. He was a descendant of Alabama slaves. The terrorists who mutilated and murdered him were the descendants of the masters of that young man's ancestors. That is to say, same farm same families. It happened around 1966 and the masters were then called farmers and the slaves were then called field hands. It is near impossible to get educated and brave enough to try to leave. If you try, you must walk. The neighborhood watch or the sheriff will bring you back "home". "Son, you're stupid and lazy just like your daddy and you can't even read, you'll starve out there". His torture and death sentence was punishment for putting a touch of his urine in the butter churn. Of course, it wasn't just punishment, it sent a message, it was an act of terrorism. The KuKluxKlan "thinks" they're Christians, They Are Not. They have many names, of course, just like the Devil. So when the pResident says he's a "Nationalist", remember my words, and watch your back. "and the darkness comprehended it not" from John chapter 1
