'You didn't get fired': Christie offers new evidence Trump avoids confrontation
Chris Christie was fired, by Steve Bannon. The man propelled to power by a Youre fired! catchphrase rarely does the deed himself

One day in early 2017, Chris Christie was in his kitchen in New Jersey, eating dinner with his wife Mary Pat. The phone rang. It was the president.
According to Christie, Donald Trump tried, not for the first time, to persuade the governor to become his labor secretary. Then talk turned to Christies firing as Trumps transition chairman in November 2016.
Chris, Trump said, you didnt get fired. You got made part of a larger team.
Christie gives his side of the conversation in his new book, Let Me Finish, a copy of which was obtained by the Guardian two weeks before publication. He says he bristled at Trumps claim, then rebuked the president.

(32,634 posts)A lot of blogs are publishing "exerpts" of Chris Christie's new book, but they have the same 3 paragraphs that I already read on Axios. I see that The Guardian actually obtained an advance copy of the entire book, and they do have more info to share.
See this accompanying article from The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jan/15/chris-christie-book-jared-kushner-accusations-hit-job
As for Chris Christie, why is he still trying to defend Trump? After all this, can't he see that he got used like everyone else? He says it's all Jared's fault that he (Christie) got fired, but I'll bet Steve Bannon was just as glad to push him out the door.
