Pelosi makes clear why she's a boss.

'Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has long been a target of Republican ire. They mock her, deride her and do everything they can to goose Democrats into questioning her leadership ability.

These tactics almost worked. But Pelosi is a masterful politician, and when the smoke cleared this week she emerged wiser, stronger and victorious.

Republicans target her because they fear her. Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of politicians more than the presence of highly effective competition. This is doubly true when that opponent is a woman.

The political poise and mastery that propelled Pelosi – a mother of five – into the highest rungs of American politics were on full display in her White House meeting with President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.'>>>

'Nancy Pelosi showed the power of "framing first" in this week's White House meeting with Donald. He has threatened to shut down our government unless Democrats provide $5 billion for his anti-immigrant border policies.

Knowing that Republicans would try to blame any shutdown on Democrats, Pelosi framed the situation first as a "Trump shutdown." It worked like a charm. Donald, who likes to put his name on things, couldn't resist the branding "opportunity." He mistook political liability for a chance to appear powerful.

We often criticize Democratic leaders for failing to frame, but it's important to acknowledge when they get it right. More from the Sacramento Bee:

I don't know if seniority is an issue in the election of Speaker, but selecting Maxine Waters would rub salt in the R's wounds. Sabor!

Trump is crafty, and manipulative, and a reasonably good con man, but he is not broadly intelligent. He cannot use whatever form of intelligence he uses to con people to analyze things as a truly intelligent person can.

Pelosi can. And she has an understanding and a command of the issues. Trump has slogans.

if folks would know how it works before they attack the Dem leaders. The Dems were in the minority and had almost no power. Now that they are in the majority in the House, we will see a big change. Nancy and the House will drive trump insane.

and I ask him, what is you don't like about her? I said, I can tell you about all the times I've disagreed with her, but I want you to give me specific reasons why you dispise her so much. And he looks at me and he gives me that sheepish grin like when he was in high school and why can't he do what all the guys do? I tell him, you hear this crap at work and it's in your head and you know better.. If you don't stand for something you fall for anything. Stand up for her and you'll be surprised how many will follow your lead.

When she "took impeachment off the table" with so few consequences for the misdeeds of the Bush administration along with taking the public option out of Obamacare, I was upset. But Nancy is THE woman as far as I'm concerned. She and only SHE will handle donnie asshole.
