Trump's confrontation with CNN is being criticised for a very important reason

Posted about an hour ago by Jack Webb in news

Donald Trump's latest clash with the media has raised some important questions about accountability.

During a press conference on Wednesday Jim Acosta, chief White House correspondent for CNN, tried to ask Trump about the ongoing Russia meddling investigation. As you might suspect, the president met these questions with insults about low ratings for CNN and the 'fake news' he claims they report on.

During the contentious exchange, Trump calls Acosta a 'rude, terrible person'.

A White House staffer tried to grab the microphone from Acosta, but he wouldn't give way. "That's enough, that's enough," the president said, before telling him to sit down and to put down his microphone.

Once again, Trump called the media the 'enemy of the people'.

The whole interaction has drawn criticism from people online, who are wondering when, or if, Trump will ever be held accountable for his volatile words and clear aggression towards the media who are literally trying to do their job.

Anything to do with his Russian and putin involvement , and throws a tantrum when he can't demand them to not ask questions like that to him. Now the press needs to do exactly that, even more, not less. He hates when he can't control the news cycle.

It was no coincidence that the question was about Russia.

I'd like to say to the doofus: "Just who do you think you are, anyway? Did you not agree to this press conference? Are they not your guests at the White House? Do you not see that the whole world is watching?????"

That is a very important statement. Don't ever forget it. He's wants them covering his bombastic rallies instead.

Non-stop. CNN & MSNBC draw his ire, but solidarity in questioning is what's needed here. Try as he might, he cannot defrock every reporter.

They ALL need to ask those question and when a question comes up that he hates and wants to roll over, EVERY media person should ask the EXACT same question until he either storms out or answers it. Don't let him get away with it. It's their fault, they need to draw the line.

I don't usually watch Morning Joe, but he is doing a very good job of needling tRump this morning. Just keeps beating him with the results of the election and the consequences for him now that the Democrats have the power of the House. Have to admit I enjoyed it enough that I actually watched instead of flipping through this morning program!

what the Saudis did to Khashoggi. That's the real reason he isn't holding them accountable. He envies them.

this isn't the first person or organization who had press credentials revoked, Acosta was the most famous.

Remember, our founders saw fit to mention the need for a free press in the Constitution.

Stop covering his stupid rallies.

Withdraw public media events from the sick, showy, attention-hungry bastard, and let him see how he likes it. One way or another, all he's doing is slinging bullshit; no sense in dignifying it.
