Violent Anarchists Could Face 15 Years in Prison Under 'Unmasking Antifa Act'

Under a new bill, members of the domestic terrorist organization Antifa could face 15 years in prison if they wear masks while threatening or attacking people engaging in any right protected by the Constitution or U.S. law.

Antifa is known for its members who wear face masks and dress in all black. The group regularly organizes to attack conservatives who participate in public events.

The organization was allegedly classified as committing “domestic terrorist violence” by the Obama administration, and is classified as a domestic terrorist threat by New Jersey’s Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.

The bill has only recently made headlines, but was introduced last month by Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY), and is co-sponsored by representatives Pete King (R-NY), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Ted Budd (R-NC). It is currently in the House Judiciary Committee.

2. I'm not defending Antifa, but I will repeat that the patriots who conducted the

Boston Tea Party wore disguises.

I don't know much about Antifa.

But this law could affect all kinds of people seems to me.

What about vandals at Halloween. Sure. I don't like them, but 15 years???

4. The Boston Tea Party was an act of vandalism

And property destruction.

And that’s fine. If someone wants to protest and commit a crime in the process I applaud them. IFF they are willing to receive the just penalty for that crime. That’s the trade off for civil disobedience.

5. 15 years is not a sentence in proportion to the crime.

I don't approve of vandalism, but thank heavens for the Boston Tea Party. If video cameras had existed at its time, where would we be? Probably still paying British taxes on our tea and everything else.

No. This exaggerated sentencing law is not a good thing although vandalism should not go unpunished either.
