United Air Lines offers 18 hour flight, longest ever for U.S. airline: USA TODAY
https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2017/10/30/uniteds-new-18-hour-flight-longest-ever-u-s-airline/812690001/_________________________________________________________________________________________
United Airlines is now flying the longest route of ever flown by a U.S. carrier and one that's a contender for the title of world's longest by flying time.
The Chicago-based airline officially claimed those superlatives late Friday, when it launched non-stop service on the 8,700-mile route connecting Los Angeles and Singapore.
By distance, its not the worlds longest but its close. Qatar Airways Doha-Auckland route (9,032 miles) and Emirates Dubai-Auckland route (8,819 miles) remain the two longest as measured by the most-direct non-stop routing between the cities served.
By scheduled flying time, however, Uniteds LAX-Singapore is perhaps the worlds longest. Facing typically strong headwinds on the westbound route, United's flight in the direction of Singapore has a whopping scheduled flying time of 17 hours, 55 minutes.

In the 2nd paragraph, note the words..non stop . Think about this, 17 hours and 55 minutes on a plane. Now, I got to add this, I once flew from Chicago to Tokyo non stop, and that was about 14 hours on a plane. It is something you don't forget. Just tack on another 5 hours. oh my???? Just to add one fact, the distance from Chicago to Tokyo is 6297 miles. Yes, I flew United.
